Official HBO We Are One: Obama Inaugural Celebration Thread I am watching this concert now and I just can't express how proud I am this afternoon. Just a day before Dr. King's birthday, there is a historic special that celebrates America and the inauguration of Barack Obama. The lineup of performers mixes some of today's biggest pop stars with iconic musical luminaries. Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen, Herbie Hancock, Sheryl Crow, Stevie Wonder and many more artists are all scheduled to appear on stage. (A full list appears below.) In addition, an assortment of leading actors will read historical passages throughout the special. According to the Presidential Inaugural Committee, "The Sunday afternoon performance will be grounded in history and brought to life with entertainment that relates to the themes that shaped Barack Obama, and which will be the hallmarks of his administration." The concert portion will start around 2:30 p.m. At the end of the performance, Obama will address the crowd. [Edited 1/18/09 12:26pm] [Edited 1/18/09 12:37pm] Check me out and add me on:

Ooh thanks. I can't keep track with all the shows and a new cable service where I can't find any of the channels. Who's the lady up there with Stevie and Usher? Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I think that is Shakira and she was HORRIBLE! It might've been Jennifer Nettles (the singer listed on the ad).

Garth Brooks showed some soul - wow! He and John Mellencamp were good.
Stevie is Stevie, just one of the 10 best musical artists ever. Shakira, wtf! Usher Raymond is tired and needs to go wide the horsey of that maneka he married, LOL. Now Miss Beyonce` is on, after begging her way into the action. Nothing particularly dynamic about her. Music Royalty in Motion

I watched it live and then the replay and I realized they cut one of my favorite moments.
They had a guy bring out a bald eagle for a symbolic segment. I understand all the signifigance but as an animal lover it was cool to see this majestic bird get some love. But it was not on the replay. Uggh. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

Just so ya know--it'll also be streamed in it's entirety at the HBO site. I watched the 7 p.m. version--it's coming on again at 11 p.m., I think?
Oh, wait--it's on NOW: http://www.hbo.com/weareone/

There were two guys that came out with eagles. Were both guys cut? Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I'm gonna say this with complete honesty
Shakira had no business performing with Stevie and Usher. They were constantly OWNING her but I liked those liquid leggings "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

There were two guys that came out with eagles. Were both guys cut? There two different segments? I missed that. I only saw the one after U2 played. The eagle kinda spreaded it wings for the audience and the service men up on stage. On cue of course. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

The eagle kinda spreaded it wings for the audience and the service men up on stage. On cue of course. Okay, and after that they introduced another guy standing on the left of the stage. He also had an eagle who spread his wings and they turned for a minute and that was it. It was sort of awkward like there may have been a missed cue from either the camera guy or the announcer. After that I think Bruce came out. I thought it was weird but then just shrugged it off. If this is the guy you didn't see maybe that's why it was removed.
