I don't know why this Rick James song has always been so funny to me

but I must admit I like it, maybe this was his answer to burning of the midnight lamp with the harpsichord

Jefferson's Ball

This is a song that I always wondered about; it is a good song, but I wanted to know...why. It took a while for this song to grow on me, and what is 'burning of the midnight lamp'???
Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

A Jimi Hendrix songs that also features the instrument harpsichord , which we hear on the intro to Jefferson's Ball, I was trying to be a little sarcastic but maybe it really was a influence.

I listened, I don't hear it, but you may be right, Rick was a big Jimi fan, so you never know.
