Thank God... because most of the original Motown legends have passed away. But there will be a two-hour documentary coming out in the fall on its history. [Edited 1/16/09 16:56pm] pushing the Pips onstage in their wheelchairs, the Tempations scooting out on walkers, and Smoky Robinson hunched over on a cane that did me in. And please don't pull Shanice and other one hit wonders out to "appeal to the younger audience". At some point, you've gotta let things go. Make this one last documentary and let that be it. After all, Motown hasn't been relevant in nearly 50 years. They will never capture the magic of Motown 25. They tried but it didn't happened.

The UK's taste isn't that great if the ONE hit they gave Debarge was "Rhythm Of The Night"

This is the same country that took that "Crazy Frog" song to number-one over there. Then again we took that Soulja Fool's song to number-one here in the U.S. so... But I say both the US and UK have shitty records topping the charts so we're even. [Edited 1/16/09 17:21pm]

Rhythm of the Night is a shite song. In fact it is one of the worst songs to come out of the 80s and it is totally alien from any of Debarges normal sounding music, but I can see why it caught on and why it was a hit.
I want to know if there are any unreleased Debarge tracks-esp anything that would have gone on the All This Love and In A Special Way cds "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Well, that's really the one hit the US gave them. Everything else was on the RnB charts. And we all knooooow that's not the same...ROTN was their one "mainstream" song I guess.

You know what I meant! They tried to recapture the magic with Motown 30 (or some other milestone), and it just didn't happen for them. Motown 50 DEFINITELY wouldn't be a hit. People just don't watch TV programs and specials the way we used to.
