I wasn't gonna see it anyways, I saw pictures of it tho.

I agree about Etta, she's supposed to have sung it but oh well, the Obamas chose Beyonce, can't do nothing else about it.

falloff @ the alligators... their facial reactions actually fit the "commentary". lol

I asked this son another thread. I have a question...I remember Destiny's Child performing for Bush--TWICE, right? Wasn't this on youtube and pulled lately? Didn't a bunch of you say you remembered Beyonce and the girls performing?

I'm not crazy then...right? nuts Then why was she in tears when being interviewed by Robin Roberts about her AT LAST song and saying, "I'm just overwhelmed. You know I voted before, but I've never been a part of an inauguration ceremony...etc." I mean...wth? confuse confused

I agree with those that said it would've been more fitting to have Etta sing HER own song. Well, I didn't watch Beyonce serenading and I ain't mad I missed it. lol

Beyonce has come a long way as a vocalist. There was a time when I couldn't make it through one of her ballads live (i.e.,Dangerously In Love). I enjoyed her performance last night and the one she did for Babs at the Kennedy Center Honors.

I don't know. I think it depends on the material. I wouldn't mind an instrumental performance if possible. If not, I would have gone with Babs or Renee Fleming, Diane Schuur, Audra McDonald, or Kathleen Battle. Maybe even Cassandra Wilson. How's Nancy sounding these days?

Oh yeah I forgot about Audra and Kathleen! They would've been great as well. And an instrumental piece would be really nice too.

Aw man KATHLEEN BATTLE! That was who should have done the 1st dance.

I'm not tired of Bouncy, I actuallly think she's a good entertainer but I do feel that others are more deserving of this honor, such as Gladys Knight or Anita Baker or even Yolanda Adams.

It doesn't even have to be a female...what about Stevie?

It's cool to have her participate but she doesn't need to headline the event. I'm guessing she got the hookup because of Jayz's work during the campaign.

I am tired of her, but i am ina greement with you that it should have gone to someone more deserving, someone who put their time in the game.

No, she got the hook up because the Obama's are fans of hers. In 2007, The Obama family attended her show "The Beyoncé Experience" in Chicago. Barack Obama said that Beyoncé was the only celebrity he asked to take a picture with & asked his handlers to get him a copy of it later at one of his fundraisers. In Marie Clair interview, they asked Michelle what she was playing in her ipod and she said Stevie Wonder & Beyoncé. In US Weekly, Barack says that his daughters Sasha & Malia favorite people are Miley Cyrus and Beyoncé. MSNBC reported that some members of Obama's family in Kenya that are coming out to the inauguration say they look forward to meeting Beyoncé as well. They love her - that's why she's there.

Or maybe because there was a $pecial contribution or donation$ made on her behalf so she would be sure to get to sing for their first dance. Really wouldnt surprise me if some kind of deal was made.

Because, like the rest of today's entertainers, she has no mind of her damn own. If the public is hyped up for Obama, then she's hyped up for Obama to make herself look good. If the public is hyped up for Bush, then she's hyped up for Bush. Her stupid ass would perform for the Ku Klux Klan if she thought the public was hyped up for them. She's not the only performer like that though. Damn near all of them these days are just like her.
