Again, you DO know you're on a Prince fan site, right???

A lot of the things you chide Beyonce for doing, Prince does. Including mixing spirituality & sexuality.

I'm not saying people here hate her because she's successful & she makes a lot of money. That's high school bullshit. I just think people here spend way too much time hating on this woman.
And where did I say Prince was not included in that?

So why do you think they hate on her? Why does it bother you so much? Stay positive and keep it movin'. You add to the negativity.

I'm not bothered at all. I think it's funny people here post so much about a woman they can't stand!!!

Okay. Perhaps you need to go back and read what you've said on this thread. that's a whole lotta anger directed at people you don't give a damn about.

I really don't think there is an escape. Perhaps I should just succumb.

She continues to creep into my radar despite my best efforts. The morning news, award shows, The Kennedy Center Honors, tv commercials, drug store shelves, newstands, my Tina Turner concert experience... resistance may indeed be futile. And yet, I try to hold on to some sort of existence without her. So far she hasn't attempted to write a book yet. The world of literature is safe. For now.

Are we going to have to build a bunker to get away from this heffa??? omg

I don't know. I think it depends on the material. I wouldn't mind an instrumental performance if possible. If not, I would have gone with Babs or Renee Fleming, Diane Schuur, Audra McDonald, or Kathleen Battle. Maybe even Cassandra Wilson. How's Nancy sounding these days?

Now THOSE would have been stunning choices befitting of a formal occasion. Heck, any of the choices you listed...but all I can envision when I think of Bouncy is her ass hanging out of a leotard mad

yea and yea especially when it ain't her own with the exception of the tina turner performance.

she thinks she can do it all. be everything 2 everyone without focusing on one part like someone said.

and the fact that she takes songwriting credit....for simply changing a word mad

yea and for things she says she wrote but didn't, ...irreplaceable, anyone?

Wait..is that what u meant?

I'm rather empathetic regarding Beyonce now. I understand how people may feel she is overexposed, but for some reason I'd rather see her have the most popularity than some of these other women out now. There's something about Beyonce's spirit that seems very humble, and quite sad internally actually. Unless she's pretending to be a "Diva" to stay on top of Rihanna and Spears, or speaking the poor memorized lines for interviews her PR team write for her (her ad-libs are what get her in trouble, LOL), she does not appear to be a conceited person when she's presenting what seems to be her true identity. I've seen what I think is the "true Beyonce" recently on Oprah, Tyra, and Ellen, and I think she's extremely naive for her age (due to her probably not being taught well by her parents growing up), considerably innocent, and it looks like she has low self-confidence when she is not performing. So, when I hear of or see her success, it doesn't bother me at all, especially since I think she has fantastic vocal talent, and I admire naturally humble yet super-mega-talented people.

But then again....I may just be getting sucked into the "I Am" Beyonce, that may be just as fake as Sasha. eek Oh dear..... neutral .... lol

agreed with u there when I get time out 2 think bout that and not just seeing her plastered everywhere.

but her talents r 2 b questioned and the way the game is played.

That may be true, but if it is I'm a little disappointed. I'd have hoped they were going to make this a classy affair and keep Beyonce's tacky ass out of it.

I understand the desire to have a current face performing instead of just relying on the legends. But why not someone with a little class and style? Someone who's not an unrepentent media-whore? Someone whose talent isn't grossly overrated, but who deserves all the praise they get? Someone whose music DOESN'T get bumped at clubs? I'm sorry, but as soon as an artist's tunes are used in a nightclub, they are no longer classy enough to be playing at a serious political event. hmph!

You can't be fucking serious!!!

You don't want her to sing at the ball, because they play her music at night clubs???

That's the silliest fucking thing I've ever heard!!!

You people need to see a shrink to deal with your unwarranted hatred for this woman!!!

This isn't a serious political event.

It's a televised party!!!

You act like she's gonna be doing the "uh-oh" booty dance while dressed like Lil Kim at the VMA's!!!

I don't want her to sing at all, you're right. ESPECIALLY because she's a tacky ass club girl. An event like this requires someone with a little dignity, class, and style none of which she has as far as I can tell. My list of reasons for not liking Bouncy is pretty long and IMO it's all warranted.

May I ask this? Can someone tell me what exatly is so bad about Beyonce? I mean the haters, and the she's this and she's that...

Has a good voice, but sings without soul.
Is a good dancer but her stage presence is laughable.
Whack-ass choreography. Who cares if she can do it well if the moves look like someone having a seizure?
Has an ego the size of North America
Proclaimed herself a diva, and neither pays due respect to her elders and betters in music, nor acknowledges that it will be YEARS before she even gets to their level, if at all
Can not act
The bullshit that went down with DC
Those phony-ass hair product ads. "Our shampoo will give you hair like Beyonce....if you have a several $1000 weave and personal stylist"
Does cheesy music that's way, way below her talent level. I don't think she's all that, but she can do better than the stupid shit she has been doing.

And finally: overexposure

That enough reasons for you? Here's my question for you: Why do Beyonce's fans find it so hard to accept that not everyone will like her?

The internet hates popularity.

If anyone's favorite singer here became as big as Beyonce, they'd turn on her!!!

I'm no Beyonce "stan". I don't own any of her albums. I just think the hatred people have for her here is way over the top.

The same folks who have steam coming out their ears drool all over Lady Gaga, 'cause she's the new "internet sensation".

I saw her on Leno, and she's fucking AWFUL!!!

If people here prefer shit like that over Beyonce, they're insane.

I dunno. Most of us are here because we like Prince -an artist who's not only been bigger than Beyonce, but has been for 30 years. Funny, none of us have taken off when Prince has been popular. Doesn't that burst a hole in your Bouncy-lovin' little theory?

I'm not tired of Bouncy, I actuallly think she's a good entertainer but I do feel that others are more deserving of this honor, such as Gladys Knight or Anita Baker or even Yolanda Adams.

It doesn't even have to be a female...what about Stevie?

It's cool to have her participate but she doesn't need to headline the event. I'm guessing she got the hookup because of Jayz's work during the campaign.

No, she got the hook up because the Obama's are fans of hers. In 2007, The Obama family attended her show "The Beyoncé Experience" in Chicago. Barack Obama said that Beyoncé was the only celebrity he asked to take a picture with & asked his handlers to get him a copy of it later at one of his fundraisers. In Marie Clair interview, they asked Michelle what she was playing in her ipod and she said Stevie Wonder & Beyoncé. In US Weekly, Barack says that his daughters Sasha & Malia favorite people are Miley Cyrus and Beyoncé. MSNBC reported that some members of Obama's family in Kenya that are coming out to the inauguration say they look forward to meeting Beyoncé as well. They love her - that's why she's there.

I've seen Barack mention Stevie, EWF, U2 and Dylan but I'll take your word for it.

As I said, I don't have a problem with her participation but I disagree with the Obamas having her headline the event. But it ain't foreign policy or anything so I'll get over it I guess. lol

Beyonce will be singing "At Last". I predict that mid-song, the tempo will start to increase. She will take off the white glove covering her left hand to reveal her robotic bling hand. Then we will all be blessed with a inaugural edition of "Single Ladies".
