That may be true, but if it is I'm a little disappointed. I'd have hoped they were going to make this a classy affair and keep Beyonce's tacky ass out of it.

I understand the desire to have a current face performing instead of just relying on the legends. But why not someone with a little class and style? Someone who's not an unrepentent media-whore? Someone whose talent isn't grossly overrated, but who deserves all the praise they get? Someone whose music DOESN'T get bumped at clubs? I'm sorry, but as soon as an artist's tunes are used in a nightclub, they are no longer classy enough to be playing at a serious political event. hmph!

I wholeheartly agree. Beyonce does not warrant such "stellar" appearance.

You can't be fucking serious!!!

You don't want her to sing at the ball, because they play her music at night clubs???

That's the silliest fucking thing I've ever heard!!!

You people need to see a shrink to deal with your unwarranted hatred for this woman!!!

This isn't a serious political event.

It's a televised party!!!

You act like she's gonna be doing the "uh-oh" booty dance while dressed like Lil Kim at the VMA's!!!

Well Beyonce is huge right now, and has talent even if it's arguable with some. I'm sure people felt the same way when MJ sang at Bill Clinton's inauguration, wondering why someone like barbara or dionne warwick or celine couldn't sing instead. He was the token big, black superstar then then, Beyonce is that right now.

Lol I just posted this in another thread. To answer your question, yes she is.

Beyonce to sing for Obamas' first inaugural dance

WASHINGTON (AP) — Beyonce will sing the first song that Barack and Michelle Obama dance to on inauguration night.
The name of the song? That's still secret.
But Beyonce is part of the star-studded lineup at the official Neighborhood Ball that will be televised on ABC, along with her husband Jay-Z, will.i.am, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Shakira, Sting, Faith Hill, Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder and Maroon 5.
The Presidential Inaugural Committee said Thursday that presenters at the ball will include Denzel Washington, Jessica Alba, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ray Romano, Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifah and Kate Walsh.

http://www.google.com/hos...QD95NT1SO0

Maybe she'll sing Diva lol But I would guess she would sing something other than one of her own songs. Or maybe it will be a completely new song that she, ahem "wrote"...which of course will be put up on Itunes later for download.

The haters are slicing their throats left & right! I love to see people get the last laugh when everybody else was praying for their demise. The hits are still coming and so are are the record sales. So for every person that is purportedly "tired" of her, there's more people out there where she is still in demand. Frankly, this event is about Barack - its his party and he can have whomever he wants. He was on CNN last night talking about he & Michelle making this selection. So everybody else will have to deal or turn your television stations.

I'm not tired of Bouncy, I actuallly think she's a good entertainer but I do feel that others are more deserving of this honor, such as Gladys Knight or Anita Baker or even Yolanda Adams.

It doesn't even have to be a female...what about Stevie?

It's cool to have her participate but she doesn't need to headline the event. I'm guessing she got the hookup because of Jayz's work during the campaign.

The internet hates popularity.

If anyone's favorite singer here became as big as Beyonce, they'd turn on her!!!

I'm no Beyonce "stan". I don't own any of her albums. I just think the hatred people have for her here is way over the top.

The same folks who have steam coming out their ears drool all over Lady Gaga, 'cause she's the new "internet sensation".

I saw her on Leno, and she's fucking AWFUL!!!

If people here prefer shit like that over Beyonce, they're insane.

I personally don’t care for the image that she puts out. Every time I see her she is half naked, gyrating like her life depends on it, and flinging around a blonde wig. She is such a high profile figure and someone young people admire; I would really like to see her carry herself with a bit more decorum. I think she could be just as successful and "sexy" (since that seems to be such a priority) without being so raunchy.

I'm rather empathetic regarding Beyonce now. I understand how people may feel she is overexposed, but for some reason I'd rather see her have the most popularity than some of these other women out now. There's something about Beyonce's spirit that seems very humble, and quite sad internally actually. Unless she's pretending to be a "Diva" to stay on top of Rihanna and Spears, or speaking the poor memorized lines for interviews her PR team write for her (her ad-libs are what get her in trouble, LOL), she does not appear to be a conceited person when she's presenting what seems to be her true identity. I've seen what I think is the "true Beyonce" recently on Oprah, Tyra, and Ellen, and I think she's extremely naive for her age (due to her probably not being taught well by her parents growing up), considerably innocent, and it looks like she has low self-confidence when she is not performing. So, when I hear of or see her success, it doesn't bother me at all, especially since I think she has fantastic vocal talent, and I admire naturally humble yet super-mega-talented people.

But then again....I may just be getting sucked into the "I Am" Beyonce, that may be just as fake as Sasha. eek Oh dear..... neutral .... lol

True, but if you're on EVERY TV show, EVERY magazine cover, endorsing all these different products and so on, then people are gonna be overexposed.

And yeah, I'm a fan of Mr. Overexposure himself, so I know from experience

The difference with the overexposure of Beyonce and the over exposure of Michael is that Beyonce's is intentional.

With Michael, he'd make a couple of appearances and people kept covering it. He and his people knew how to market Michael Jackson and the Michael Jackson brand. He along with Prince were reclusive so even today when they make appearances, it's big news

Look at any special from 1983-1989 and you'll see what I'm talking about lol

Prince has been pretty fucking huge but i didn't turn on him. shrug

And I'm 40. I have zero idea who Lady Gaga is.

I have zero respect for any artist that shakes their ass to sell a product and that's anyone including some people that people here dig. I also have zero tolerance for boolsheetery when someone is praising the Lord and griding on some dude the next. And lastly, because of her looks, she gets major fame that much better, more deserving singers will never get.

As far as her money, her looks or her fame, everyone is not jealous of that. some of us live perfectly good lives. Wrong is wrong and the more people keep falling for it, the more it will never, ever be right.
