I gotta say it, I loath U2's song, In The Name Of Love Always hated this song. There is a book by a noted rock critic, where he says that this is one of the worst rock songs ever made. I won't go that far, but this song just doesn't do it for me. It is too mealy mouthed and feather light for my tastes. It doesn't do MLK the right respect. Too lightweight for such a great man. No, this one misses, big.
This one should have stayed on the barb wired fence..lol Too bad, because MLK deserves a great song. All you others say Hell Yea!!

It's one of their best IMO (if not their absolute best). "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

They suck. All their songs suck. And Bono looks like Robin Williams.

just cuz they're the best rock band in the world doesn't mean everyone is gonna like them. An individualist is a man who lives for his own sake and by his own mind; he neither sacrifices himself to others nor sacrifices others to himself...

Its ok, you can hate on them.
INXS is better in every way until the reality show thing happened. Just listen to inxs, you can thank me later. RIP 1958-2016 Prince RIP 1947-2016 David Bowie

It's not a fave U2 song, but I like it. As for it being lightweight and MLK deserving a better song, U2 was not the only artist or band to create a song in his honor (even tho it wasn't only about him, there is the MLK song) nor do they have to be. They weren't given the task to do it out of all the singers and songwriters in the world. If anybody else wants to do it, I'm sure they will. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

I noticed singing it live, Bono corrected the lyrics, which was good. But it's not exclusively about MLK.Jr. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

What about "Bad", "Unforgettable Fire", "Sort of Homecoming", or "Wire"? Hell, even "MLK"? I really love that record... It's the biggest song on that album, though... I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

Anyway, it's nowhere near my list of favorite U2 songs, and Bono can't sing it to save his life anymore, but I certainly don't hate it, nor would I wish it out of their catalog. It's their "Kiss" or "Penny Lane" for me. It's a (rightfully) big hit that just doesn't move me as much as most of their other big tracks. It's miles better than "Elevation", though (another big U2 hit that I just don't connect with). I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

But you know what, I still love the song. Hate what you hate, that's your choice but it's one of my favorite U2 songs. With or Without You is still my #1 song of all time of theirs. (Beautiful high school memories).

They were kids when they did that song.
It's a great pop song, and it's a young Irish group singing about an American civil rights leader. How many young Americans sing about Irish civil rights leaders? I think it's uplifting and gets the spirit of MLK. As great as MLK? No, but it's a good song. My Legacy

I agree. It's dull as hell. Clivilies and Cole redid it in the early 1990s, turned it into a jam, and made it into a great song. Andy is a four letter word.

The amount of negative U2 comments on here is pathetic, they are the greatest band of the last 30 years, get over it and stop lying to yourselves. We're here, might as well get into it.
