Pet Shop Boys: New Album Tracklista and Release Date

2009 will see the release of Pet Shop Boys' new studio album, "Yes". We can now confirm the complete track-listing:

1. Love etc.
2. All over the world
3. Beautiful people
4. Did you see me coming?
5. Vulnerable
6. More than a dream
7. Building a wall
8. King of Rome
9. Pandemonium
10. The way it used to be
11. Legacy

The album has a running time of approximately 48 minutes. Tracks 1, 6 and 10 are Pet Shop Boys/Xenomania co-writes. All other songs are written by Pet Shop Boys (track 2 with a little help from Tchaikovsky). As we have previously reported, the album was produced by Brian Higgins/Xenomania and has a provisional release date of March 23rd.

Parlophone/EMI have confirmed March 23rd as the release date for the new new Pet Shop Boys' album, "Yes", in a press release sent out to all media today. The full text reads:

IN THE POP COLLABORATION OF THE YEAR, PET SHOP BOYS TEAM UP WITH PRODUCERS
IN THE POP COLLABORATION OF THE YEAR, PET SHOP BOYS TEAM UP WITH PRODUCERS XENOMANIA FOR THEIR NEW STUDIO ALBUM “YES” WHICH WILL BE RELEASED ON PARLOPHONE ON MARCH 23.
THE SINGLE “LOVE ETC” IS RELEASED ON MARCH 16.

In what is surely the pop collaboration of 2009, PET SHOP BOYS have teamed up with the hit production team Xenomania (Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Gabriella Cilmi etc) for their new studio album, “Yes”, which will be released on March 23rd.
Pet Shop Boys, who will receive the Outstanding Contribution To Music award at this years Brit Awards on February 18th, co-wrote three of the eleven new tracks on the album with Xenomania. The other tracks were written by Tennant/Lowe with a little assistance from Tchaikovsky on “All Over the world”. The album was produced by Brian Higgins/Xenomania.

Chris Lowe comments: "This album is amazing and it was great working with Xenomania!" Neil Tennant says: "It's a fantastic, wide-ranging, pop record."

Johnny Marr plays guitar on several tracks and orchestral arrangements on "Beautiful people" and "Legacy" are by Owen Pallett (Last Shadow Puppets, Final Fantasy).

The album track listing is as follows (* written by Tennant/Lowe/Xenomania):
Love etc *
All over the world
Beautiful people
Did you see me coming?
Vulnerable
More than a dream *
Building a wall
King of Rome
Pandemonium
The way it used to be *
Legacy

The release of “Yes” will be preceded by the single “Love etc” on March 16. Pet Shop Boys describe the song as "a post-lifestyle anthem which sounds like nothing we’ve done before."

Pet Shop Boys are currently planning a very special performance at the Brit Awards in February. They have also co-written with Xenomania the current Girls Aloud single “The Loving Kind"; the two groups met when both were recording at Xenomania’s studio in Kent.

This is a song PSB wrote for Girls Aloud. It was produced by Xemonia, who produced the new album!

I like that sound. If they boys' new songs will have good melodies I might like the album. Their last album had a lack of great melodies imo.

I cannot wait for this...and hope that they get the recognition they deserve after their Brit Awards appearance (not that the Brits is respected anymore, but millions watch- you know what I mean!)

Yay! The last one definitely grew on me. Don't really know anything about Xemonia--what's their sound like? (I don't think Girls Aloud have ever been played on US radio) smile

Exciting news! i loved their last record. For the record Xenomania are very good at churning out pretty innovative pop music. I hope it wont sound like Girls Aloud obviously, as i want the Pet Shop Boys, but i think they'll bring a certain character and pop sheen to the boys stuff.

True, they weren't written during the Fundamental sessions, but it's still good that they released them anyhow. I still consider them true B-Sides.

the reason I thought they released little b-sides is, because I read Literally where Neil listes at least 5 other outtakes like China and I hoped they would be released.

I truly believe they record almost double the amount of material for each album and pick and choose the best. Considering they really only get 3 releases off of each album these days, we can only hope for 6 B-Sides. I think we would have gotten 1 more single had they not chosen Numb as the 3rd single. It's a lovely song but did not make a good single. They even lavished a lot of money on the video too. IMO something like the remixed Integral or Sodom and Gomorrah show would have been better, though I think Psychological was the best song on the album.

I can't believe the single isn't out until the week before the album. Hopefully we can hear it before than. Everyone is saying the Youtube link to the "intro" is not the song but maybe some fan's idea of what it might be.I'm a little bit disappointed to hear that it might be ballad heavy! And that Girls Aloud song doesn't show promise either...

I heard it's up to mid tempo. Think 20th Century.
