somebody once said about the hall of fame, that the induction isn't so much about the artists who contributed 2 rock n roll, as much as it's about the ones who made the most money doin it. It's a damn shame Chic got snubbed once again bein that Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards' sound was the foundation 4 Hip-Hop or the fact that their ears revived a lot of dead careers in the 80's, but then we still aint seen Chicago....Rick James.....Blood Sweat & Tears....Three Dog Night....The Doobie Brothers....Rare Earth....Donny Hathaway.... Paul Rodgers... Bad Company.... Peter Frampton....Boston...Kansas....Genesis....Phil Collins....Mountain....

That's a good point because I haven't seen people like Roy Brown and Wynonnie Harris being in the Hall of Fame yet and I credit them with foreshadowing the rock 'n' roll sound as well as those groups and artists you mentioned. Then again, the Hall is so high school it ain't even funny.

Chic made a shitload of money. Their albums sold well!

on a side note , i was wondering, 20 years from now who will the Hall of Fame induct with all these mainstream artists with short careers and crap music....just a thought.

I doubt that'll happen. I'm still doubting that. They'll just induct all the '50s, '60s and '70s artists they "forgot" so to speak. rolleyes With Wanda Jackson's induction, you can see they're still putting in actual LEGENDS in there, lol.

Yeah i was having this discussion the other day with someone and we said the same thing. They pretty much will start "grandfathering" people in that they "forgot". All i know is that HALL AND OATES and CHICAGO better be first in that "letting in" process, because if i see someone from the 90's getting in like Lenny Kravitz or Mariah Carey, before either of these 2 are in, im going to petiton the closure of the hall.

we debate alot on the Org about which current artist today is real and who's not since the music business has changed so much, so it will be interesting 25 years from now to see who is worthy of such honor.

I am annoyed that Chic didn't get in. Donna Summer most likely won't make it either. Why are they so anti disco?

Makes no sense to me shrug

i like hiphop, i just think they should have their own hall of fame. people bitched about somebody like madonna getting in and claimed shes not a real musician, how can you diss a pop star who has recorded original songs, and has to actually perform when she's on stage, but celebrate rappers who pulled out their favorite records, let a dj spin the breakbeat while they talk in a mic, oh and get onstage with 25 of their homies and walk back n forth, letting a hypeman scream the words with them to the point you cant even understand whats being said?
