Funkateers! Please recommend some Parliament/Funkadelic albums. I only have Funkadelic's One Nation Under a groove and Best of Parliament. I'm looking to build my collections. Any recommendations??

Would you say that these albums are great all the way through? I'm wondering if I should just buy the individual releases or start with the anthologies...

I'm a much bigger Funkadelic than a Parliament fan. Yes, there's a difference.
You should pretty much get Funkadelic album released on Westbound Records. Funkadelic (Self-Titled) Free Your Mind and Your Ass Will Follow Maggot Brain Let's Take it to the Stage Standing on the Verge of Getting it On JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

In order to get the gist of what George was doing, you have to get all of the Parliment albums on Casablanca. They are all connected and are like comic books. If u want a good Parliment compilation, I recommend this: U also have 2 pick up the Bootsy projects. George is all over them also. If you want a Bootsy compilation, I recommend **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

as a young boy I started out
Gloryhallastoopid & Funkentelechy Vs. Placebo Syndrome and it only made me thirsty for more I now own the majority of the released P-Funk catalog... recently found some Parlet albums and like Paris I'm more of a Funkadelic freak than Parliament but eventually you should collect it all it's all very interesting & very funky because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

recently found those too... and we may as well throw Eddie Hazel's album in there: it's all great like the Starr Company/Paisley Park stuff if you are the least bit of a fan all of it is worth having and it really doesn't matter where you decide to start [Edited 1/8/09 15:04pm] because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

I would say get them all. Start with the earliest and work your way up. If you are a serious Prince fan you will not be disappointed. Alot of hardcore funk and serious rock jams. Purchase all the Bootsy 70's stuff also.

... and after all of the stuff already mentioned, get Bernie Worrell's 'All The Woo In The World' and Fuzzy Haskins' 'Radio Active' and 'A Whole Nother Thing'
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Since we're talking Bernie. A friend of mine hipped me to this album and it's one of my alltime favorites.
