Morrissey - Years of Refusal

Something Is Squeezing My Skull

A great album intro. Massive drumming! Stunning. 4/5

Mama Lay Softly On The Riverbed

Marching band drumming. Stunning subdued guitars. 4/5

Black Cloud

Atmospheric begining. Single material. The chorus is very bendy. 5/5

I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris

One of my favorite songs of the album and the first single of the album. Simple song...efective. Reflect my state of mind. 5/5

All You Need Is Me

We all alright now this one. A straighfoward song, but not that special. 3/5

When Last I Spoke To Carol

THE BEST SONG MOZ HAS DONE IN 10 YEARS. Latin, brass, epic! 5/5

That's How People Grow Up

The lead single of the Greatest Hits compilation. It has the word "sweatie". No more miserable...but resign. I always loved this song for it's simplicity 5/5.

One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell

Typical Morrissey filler song. 2/5

It's Not Your Birthday Anymore

Another highlight of the album. I can see this song popping up on those mixtapes. Great band work! 5/5

You Were Good In Your Time

Paging uncle Ennio. Slow, almost love song with those snippets of old movies with lavander and red tinged menstruation silk sheets... 5/5

Sorry Doesn't Help

Really not special. Regular filler 2/5

I'm OK By Myself

Reminds me of the 80's with a rockabilly bass line (burried in the mix). A nice end-song. I like it. 4/5

Overall:

I think it's the best Morrissey has released this decade. It's works better has the sum of it's parts. The lyrics are more...positive

4/5

Kinda been trying to get into him for the last year or so. Not sure yet if he's for me or not. I'm equally attracted and repelled by his work. It's like... I can relate to it pretty well, but I kind of wish that I didn't.

Anyway, I like this one. It's better than his last two, which have kinda-sorta been my gateway into him. Having a new album out has made me take the full plunge with him.

I used to have a shirt like that, but it went bobbly after a few washes, so I chucked it out.

I'd love to have one of the shirts.
