Is she really that famous? Here in America, no one really knows who she is. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Well, yeah. But she lives in London mostly. exactly. she only acknowledges her home country when it's convenient.

she's famous. mostly through out Europe, but mainly in the UK and in Australia. she doesn't do promotion stateside so apart from a couple hits, she most likely won't be well known there. rumours have circulated about her not liking the states since her comment of 'not wanting to go to america' on her fever documentary a few years back. i dont think the us (well whats left of it) music market is really suited for kylie. she is all about pop. i dont see allot of that around the us charts, perhaps at this stage in her career, y bother trying to crack a dying market when you are very successful in active music markets...? her album "Fever" was a huge success all over. there's a part of the documentary where she's talking about how her manager says she has to do promotion in Mexico and America. in which she says "i don't want to go to Mexico. i don't want to go to America." she was suppose to have a break before her tour for the album and i'm sure that's what she meant it as, but to many fans in North America it came across very wrong. and her not taking her show there didn't help. she only did a couple shows with other artist where she sang a couple tracks. i think you can find them on youtube. if it any consolation, her album and ticket sales have been less than great at home in Oz. [Edited 1/11/09 23:34pm] Before that, the amount of hit singles she had in both the UK and Australia is probably in similar numbers to that of Madonna (and in slightly less time). I don't know how big her actual albums were before "Fever", though. Kind of sucks that after "Fever" her fire in the US sort of went out. She sort of tried again with "X" but that was a huge bomb here despite lots of promotion and her songs being used in commercials!

Capitol Records market her all wrong in the U.S. They only released the urban-tinged 'All I See' over there, which was like exporting snow to eskimos.
The way they delayed the album release in North America was weird too. She's not just famous in Europe and Australia, but in South America, the Eastern Bloc and Asia too.

Please tell me this is a joke. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Ridiculous. Prince should have one outside the O2 or Wembley arena for his record breaking stints in 1990 and 2007. If kylie has one, can they put it in the ladies toilets in G.A.Y.? if there is one.

She doesn't like coming to do promo here beause people always refer to her as the Locomotion girl and she is way beyond that now. It would be like Prince going to promote his new albums and the report keeps asking about Soft and Wet. i've read interviews where she said they tried to crack the the US in the early days.. I Should Be So Lucky, Locomotion, It's No Secert, Better the Devil You Know and Step Back in Time had been released here, and she came to realization she didn't have the time or the desire to crack the US market because they clearly didn't wnat her. The success of Can't Get You Out of My Head was a fluke and not planned at all. Capitol I think tries to push her and you can tell from her latest American appearances she seemed really disinterested in being there. I would love her to tour the US but that isn't going to happen because it would be cost effective to ship over everything and only do a couple shows in NY, SF, LA and maybe Miami. The only Americans I know that have heard of Kylie or know about her are gay. And lets face there aren't enough of them even to support a tour.
