this album is blowing me away. i usually dig marianne faithfull albums - she's a hip old bird - but the arrangements and song choices and collaborators on this album are completely out to lunch (in the best possible way).

i'm not a big fan of antony hegarty (as you well know ), but the duet with him on this album is one of the most UNIQUE things i've ever heard. i can't say i find it 100% pleasant, but i'm very entertained and captivated by the noises they managed to make.

on the other hand, the decemberists cover is sublime, and "children of stone" is transcendent.

pleasantly surprised by the ballads disc of Beyonce's disc, since it was the uptempo stuff i was looking forward to (which kind of sucks, Single Ladies aside). loving the Killers, a band I never though I'd even give a second thought when they first came out. Kanye is also surprisingly good, considering I'm not a fan. Britney and Pink are great as well. Enya is Enya, no more, no less.
