Recently ended a 2 year relationship with the absolute love of my life. Would love to hear some ideas of music for my ipod that would cheer me up a little. Need something upbeat with some kick....So What can only go so far!!! Would love any ideas you might have.

for good days: deee-lite, "dewdrops in the garden"
for cranky days: joan jett, "bad reputation" both are upbeat - one's just more dancey, and the other is more bad-girl rawk music.

You want to avoid soabout love and romance completely. Hmm, Ringo's tunes for the Beatles are usually kind of goofy and cheery-uppish: Yellow Submarine, Octopus' Garden, Act Naturally, Bungalow Bill...
Maybe go through and make a collection of "happy" songs not about relationships. Anything that puts you in a good mood. I like Shirley Ellis - The Clapping Song, Get Right Down To The Real Nitty Gritty. And avoid oldies radio for a while, that stuff'll kill you after you just broke up. Maybe you stop the radio dial on Woolly Bully or Downtown or something and you start to get your groove on and then they cut to I Go To Pieces or Bernadette or Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying and you lose it all over again.

I'd recommend Stevie in any situation. He always puts a smile on my face.
If you're female - and if you wanna get angry or even just feel powerful- Pink's "Can't Take Me Home" Or Missy Elliot's "Da Real World". I doubt I have been very helpful here [Edited 1/6/09 3:41am] www.maximum-jackson.com

If you're still in love: George Michael - Waiting For That Day
if you're in a fuck off mood try some Madonna. Sorry, You'll See, She's Not Me... madonna's songs are best for breakups because they lift you up, they give you a: I'm strong and you are shit feeling!!

Well, I normally just whore around from one partner to another in one night stands since relationships only seem to be trouble. But when I do end it with someone or just get pissed off in general, I like to listen to hard rock like Def Leppard, AC/DC, Van Halen, etc.

You'll See is probably one of the best songs to end any type of relationship. When I lost my job 2 years ago, I played this song constantly for a week. I also recommend "There is Lonely", "When the Lights Go Down", "17 Days", "Anna Stesia", and "Space" (Universal Love Remix). Add to the playlist: "Whatever Happens" from MJ, "Breakdown" from Mariah, anything from Sade, and "It's My Turn" from Diana. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
