Right, thats exactly what i'm saying. It's both: Artist(s) who shined under the radar that went through major issues/struggles/tragedies. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

What tragedies befell Cherelle, Billy Ocean and The Boys?
Minnie Riperton is pretty well known "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I hear you but, everybody hasn't gone through drug abuse, or suicide, or physical/verbal abuse from spouses or been paralyzed, or been jailed. I look at it as they are featuring artists whose career should have gone farther than it did and what happened behind the scenes. So an artist who had talent and promise but no drug addiction, mental issues, rape, caused violence, served jail/prison time, a nasty custody battle from a divorce, homelessness, etc. isn't deemed worthy of their story being heard? There isn't a person on earth who hasn't gone through something in their personal lives, but when did it come to the point that people started deciding "how much in depth" their issues must be in order for us to be entertained? I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Minnie Riperton is pretty well known It doesn't matter what their tragedies are. Did you see my response from before? It shouldn't be about the terrible things the artists went through, but about their talent and why their career didn't reach the top when it had potential to reach the top. Donny Hathaway and Debarge were pretty well known too and were still featured. [Edited 1/10/09 18:06pm] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

But every story HAS had some form of tragedy or struggle. And yes, everyone's gone through struggles but not everyone was famous while doing it, and that's why the show is on - to show famous peoples' struggles. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

I think there's officially 2 sides to this - some INSIST that there MUST be tragedy in order for the story to be told I'm on the other side, I think it's really about careers that didn't take off completely or burned out before their time - period. I say it on every Unsung thread, but the tragedy thing comes up every time

They aren't gonna do ANY story on an artists that didn't struggle with either crime, deviant behavior, illness, or drugs or a combo of all of those - BET! That's what sells. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

I say it on every Unsung thread, but the tragedy thing comes up every time Phyllis is actually a good example of what you're talking about careers not completely taken off but as always there was always a tragic element especially in all four stories. The Clark Sisters' problem was they were criticized for bringing gospel's word to "sinners who don't wanna be saved", lol. But they manage to get over the hurdles. Much better than the other three, whose hurdles prevented them from really finding peace within themselves.
