Madonna does not have 2 albums that sound alike IMO and is always full of surprises.I think if janet did a mature album with jazzy blues sounds and smooth melodic vocals and the harmonies she always did, she'll gain a lot of respect back from the majority public. Her range works perfectly with that genre, kind of like Diana's voice.
She has talked about doing a Brazilian jazz album. If she does another predictable R&B album,it will be dead on arrival. It's time for her to shake things up and try something new and fresh.

Copycat said: Jermaine Dupri Fired From Island Records Janaury 8, 2009 Link Jermaine Dupri is out as president of Island Records Urban Music division, a unit he ran for almost two years. The tenure of the Atlanta rapper-producer-mogul, which began Feb. 7, 2007, came to an abrupt halt Thursday. It is believed there is still time remaining on his contract with the Universal Music Group imprint. His time at the helm, though, was notable for several underperformers, specifically Jagged Edge's "Baby Makin' Project," and "Discipline," from Dupri's girlfriend, Janet Jackson, which sold only 428,000 copies. His ankling puts a question mark on Tag Records, the hip-hop label he oversaw that was a partnership between Island Def Jam and Procter & Gamble's Tag brand. Formed in April, the goal was to showcase Dupri and Tag artists across various Tag brand advertising and marketing initiatives. The label has released only one single, "On a Mission" by Q Da Kid, which featured Dupri. It has sold only 3,000 downloads. Dupri reported to Island Def Jam chairman L.A. Reid and president Steve Bartells. They created the urban division shortly before Dupri came aboard. Dupri, who started as a teen producer and owner of the independent label So So Def, has been active as a performer, writer, producer and industry pro for more than a decade. He was president of the Atlanta chapter of the Recording Academy, a post he quit after accusing the org of not sufficiently supporting Jackson after her breast-baring incident at the 2004 Super Bowl. Did Jagged Edge really release an album titled "Baby Makin Project"?! That's absurd. No wonder it flopped...lol...

I'm glad JD got dropped. He needs to leave the record industry alone (on the business side anyway). He just needs to concentrate on writing and beats for others. I heard him say on his youtube channel that he was going to work with Usher again on his next project. I hope it turns out better than Here I Stand. That album is worse than his debut. I am not an usher fan by any stretch of the imagination but i was surprised when i found out a couple of weeks ago he sung here i stand. I had been hearing it on the grown folks station but had no idea it was him. I'll give him props for finally making something decent and not shit like move mountains and love in this club. The title track here i stand is okay but i sure as hell wouldn't buy that album. Don't laugh at my funk

JERMAINE Dupri has left the Universal Music building. Dupri was president of Island Records until he was unceremoniously booted on Wednesday. A source said, "After [his girlfriend] Janet Jackson's album and tour bombed, he basically didn't come back to work. He still collected a paycheck, but didn't bother to do anything that he was supposed to do, like find artists, release records or actually show up. Executives tried to talk to him, but he just lost heart." Dupri was widely blamed for Jackson's album flop as he insisted on letting her get her way on song selection and production of the release, "Discipline." The spy adds, "Very few producers have turned into good executives, with the exception of Dr. Dre." A rep for Dupri's boss, Island/Def Jam head L.A. Reid, declined to comment http://www.nypost.com/sev...149320.htm

And if all you're looking for is a good paycheck, then you ain't got no business telling people how to run the show.

Seriously who has been hiring him for those presidential jobs? Honestly i thinnk it was a title to shut him up. When Prince re-signed with WB back in 1992 they made him VP of WB records, little did he know there were about 23 VP's at the label. When are people finally gonna realize Janet Jackson is over. Jermaine Dupri or any top producer cannot help her become the artist she once was. Those days are long gone. Dupri also has had his run as well. What the hell were they thinking when they gave him that position anyway. The last big thing this guy did work on was Usher's Confessions. I do not count Mariah's latest work it was not that big at all.

That's so cold. They gave him the position not long after Confessions AND The Emancipation Of Mimi, which were some of the biggest successes of the decade.

And he produced stinkers after that hence him being dumped. Besides even his songs on the Emancipation and Confessions did as well as the Bryan Michael Coxes and the Lil' Jons.

Either they need to retire and settle down or realize they don't work well together! If anyone seeks Janet out for a record deal, something tells me they put their foot down about JD and don't follow this trend yet again!

Then he went to Capital and didn't release but a couple of albums over there (one of which was a compilation of his own stuff to co-incide with his book). Then he went to IDJ only because he went and begged LA Reid for a job. Jermaine hasn't given us any lasting acts so far in his career. He gave us Jagged Edge, Da Brat, Bow Wow, and Xscape. Come on, these acts were never that good in the beginning. Not to mention the material they released was weak as hell (overall). Jermaine needs to leave the executive title to the cut-throat people meant for the job...not some high school graduate that lucked up on a job at LaFace records and did a remix or 2. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
