It's only a recent development P is getting respect in the media over MJ. Intersting that current 'chart' artists are bucking the trend, maybe they're as confused as i am.

Culturally Michael Jackson has had the biggest impact from those artists back in the day over Prince and Madonna, out of those three. I really believe that.

Yes, Michael Jackson was loved by all in the world, whereas Prince was loved by many. So yeah, MJ has definitely achieved the greatest national/international recognition, status, and admiration. MJ was/is basically a transnational, musical paragon, for several reasons. Even now, Prince's popularity still does not compare to Michael in the 80s/early 90s. Prince is one of the greatest musicians in the history of music, but no one will match or even come close to Michael Jackson of 1980-1992 (especially not the impersonators some of U have mentioned above). And I agree that Prince was aware of this, thus did not consciously attempt to compete with Michael, which fortunately resulted in his own kind of extreme success and longevity around the world.

As far as the present is concerned, Michael really doesn't need to perform anymore. I don't think he really wants to either. He's certainly not a workaholic like Prince, and like Mike said in 2007, (paraphrase) "I don't want to go out like James Brown," i.e. performing rigorously until old age/death. I don't blame him. I would love to get another MJ album/project, but I'll understand if he decides not to. Yeah he's lazy (I've read that he always has been, LOL), but he's also much older, fragile, and a parent, so I wouldn't want to see him mistakenly continue with music if its not in his best interest.

It's really irresponsible to rent a house for $100,000 a month.

MJ still spends like it's the 80s.

Well, Michael is loaded with cash, despite what Rupert Murdoch's media organisations will tell you in the next few weeks/Years/ or time til you die.

According to them, he's been broke for what? a decade or more?

MJ still out there doing fucking nothing at all, Not caught begging yet, seems OK to me, 14th biggest selling act in the world last year with no new product out. won't starve.

Not to mention some merchandise they began to release late last year and continue this year:

the new Michael Jackson dolls

the Michael Jackson cell phone in Japan

the badgepacks

the 2009 calendar

and other shit that's supposed to be coming out next year

Yep. And don't forget his royalties for his own music and being half-owner of Sony/ATV, plus the average $80million he gets every year for the Beatles back catalog.

That 'Billie Jean ' doll is the shit, i could line him up against my Japanese 'Koto' Star Wars stuff and he'd probably kick Boba Fett's ass, but not Threepio's! lol

Bottom line, this is why P fans (only) hate MJ fans. No toys to admire. Pure fucking jealousy. confused

I want them to make a Bad replica but they're only releasing ones from Thriller, Smooth Criminal, Black Or White, Dangerous Tour(labeled as HIStory)

I still got my copy from 2003 but it's in my shelf. Everytime I look at it, it reminds me of coming home from buying it and seeing on E! "Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch just raided" mad

I remembered thinking about buying it just for that OMC song...which was "okay" in retrospect. After the raid and everything, I said "fuck it", lol. But even now, I don't think about buying it.
