Technical WinAmp question

Who here uses WinAmp 5.541? I just downloaded it today and I seem to have problems with the saving of already excisting playlists I edited. After I delete and add songs to the playlist I lose all the changes as soon as I exit the playlist.

Is it because the main one I am editing contains 31,224 MP3's? Might it be too much for WInAmp?

I notice a few differences with Windows Media Player (WMP), which is my previous player.

First, I cannot save an actual playlist, I have to overwrite one. What's up with that? Why does it not overwrite autmatically? Isn't it supposed to work like anthing else (like a Word file that you can save while you work without having to change or overwrite the previous file with special commands)?

Also, WMP saved it as ONE sort of file; WPL, if I am correct, but if I wanna save on WinAmp, I get the option to pick one out of three; M3U, PLS or M3U8. What is the difference?

I hope anyone can help me out here. Thanks!
