I don't care how much Michael had on his mind, people who teach you steps that later become your signature steps, which tens of millions of people know him by, you give them credit every chance you get. I grew up thinking that MJ invented that damn dance, only to find out that some form or other of it has been around since the 30s. (And besides that, Prince was such a huge inspiration on me when I was starting out as a writer, that I still thank him in my books today.)

When Boogaloo talks about his style being more robotic, perhaps he forgot Michael invented the robot for 'dancing machine' like, a full decade before, and that may be the reason he stood out to Michael above the others. What, so he should constantly be naming every person who helped him do something/taught him something? By that logic he should be namedropping the designers of his signature outfits, the directors of his videos, his voice coaches, everyone. Equally, the people complaining that he doesn't name them enough should be namedropping the people who taught them as well. That's ridiculous. I also think your comparison is flawed. Prince inspired you, he didn't teach you a practical skill. MJ namedrops his inspirations every chance he gets (James Brown, etc). The people who taught him certain steps didn't inspire him, though, they were just teachers. I'm grateful to my maths teacher for making sure I am able to do the job I do, but he didn't inspire me. Bottom line is, he has always said he was taught the steps, and if people want to find out more, all they have to do is the tiniest amount of research on their own. It's not MJ's job to dispell fan illusions, unless he created them himself. Sorry if that came across as a bit ranty, I'm not quite myself today. ^^;

Prince gives credit all the time to Sly, James, George, Stevie, etc.
This is interesting because I totally forgot being excited by these guys way before MJ. Take a look at this clip and tell me MJ should not thank them. http://jp.youtube.com/wat...1-i3ib6xJE

Prince doesn't credit his choreographers, though, does he?
