Both yes and no. If your doing hip hop and r&b, it's probably easier for black artists than its ever been. Then again, if your a black funk, rock or even blues artist/band, you can forget about it.
chill..prince doesnt like men being front row, makes it hard to sing the ballads

I don't think its a real race issue anymore. Some of the most powerful people in music are black and they have a responsibility now and they're not being responsible and nuturing black artists, the kind that could be around in 10/20 years. they have the funds and the influence if they truly wanted to. The bottom line is that it's all about money. It's easier to market the same old shit-hop drivel and sell it to the dumb masses.

confuse Who are these powerful black people in the music industry that you're referring to?

I know! I've been waiting the past two years for Rain from Korea to make it here in the US. confused

Utada is currently trying to break in the US

Crystal Kay is working on her stateside debut. She's successful in Japan (she's biracial/korean and black)

I wanna see Chemistry break into the American market

Thanks. I'd never heard of them before.

I see while Rain emulates Michael Jackson, Crystal Kay emulates Janet. LOL.

I think that if black artist would read their contracts and have a trustworthy manager, they wouldn't be in a big mess.

That would be true back in the day but these days black artists don't even get contracts or record deals. The only people that get them these days are shit hoppers and those are far from artists.

But to answer your question..depends on what genre..and it works both ways..the music industry pigeonholes whatever is hot and selling at the time.
