k.d. Lang - no question.

This woman has a voice like butta. It's perfect! No screaming, yelling or over singing ever! Simply a great voice.

She does. Her voice on "Constant Craving" gives me chills. She has a beautiful voice, no question about it.

'Consequences of Falling' . . . .

It would definately, without a doubt, be Martha Wash. She has one the most wonderful voices I've ever heard and she also has good enough taste and guts to use her voice for making ass shaking jams. Most people with a really great voice would rather waste it making slow dull shit to appeal to the masses but Martha throws down hard! She's a bad bitch.

She is not underrated. Her weight in that industry keeps her down
Under certain circumstances, urgent circumstances, desperate circumstances, profanity provides a relief denied even to prayer.

She's one of The Weather Girls and Two Tons Of Fun. I remember her. She was also part of that music scandal in the nineties when she sang most of the tracks on some songs that another group got credit for. Like a Milli Vanilli type of thing.

I remembered Clivilles and Coles . . Had to Google their names to come up with C
+ C Music Factory. They used Martha in the studio and a model in the videos.

That was fucked up that they did that. Her voice was also used on hit songs for Black Box. Those were actually my favorite songs growing up! nod

The last I heard about that incident, she was suing for credits and royalties. Did she get restitutions for those songs.

Last I checked, yeah. She even agreed to do a duet with C+C Music Factory after the dust was settled. She even appeared in their music video, I think the song was called "Do You Wanna Get Funky". Unfortunately slower hip-hop based R&B music was on the rise at the time the song came out (1994).

I think Jeffrey Osbourne is another underrated vocalist. I think he's one of the best male vocalists of my lifetime. Also Phillip Bailey from EWF, he doesn't get the respect that he deserves as a singer. Those are the two that came to mind when I read the topic. Then I'd say Regina Belle on the female side.
Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

Siedah Garrett.

She seems to be "always the bridesmaid, never the bride".

I loved that Sometimes song she did with Brand New Heavies.

Kid Creole/August Darnell is a painfully underrated artist (songwriter, musician, producer, performer, etc.)

perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

I would add James Ingram in with this group.

How about Prince's ex-protege Sheila E?
