Last Time You Cried In a Concert

Last year my mom took me to see the Divine Miss M's The Showgirl Must Go On in Las Vegas for my birthday.

When she sang "Hello In There" I just grabbed my moms hand and started to cry.

The John Prine song? I had no idea she'd ever recorded or used that song in her set.

yup she recorded it on her debut album The Divine Miss M back in 1972. It's been a long time staple of her live act.

with my experience, it was less the rockstar that got me crying, and more what she was singing and saying. that and the fact that she was a 60 year old woman with more fire in her belly than most people 1/3 her age.

When I saw EWF back in 2004 and Maurice unexpectedly joined them on stage at a sold out show at New York's Beacon Theatre.

Just seeing him and Phil, arms around each other's shoulder while they sang Thats the Way of the World was so touching considering that due to his illness it was probably the last time I would see him on stage with the group.

When I was a small child and was forced to go to a Conway Twitty/Loretta Lynn concert. It was at the Fair and I was wanting to ride the amusement park rides instead of being inside with a bunch of hillbillies.

I never ever thought i'd cry at a concert but i was close to tears amazingly at a Thin Lizzy concert in 2005. Phil Lynott of course wasn't singing it was John Sykes but you could feel the reverence they held him in. Basically it was a speech he gave before The Boys Are Back In Town was played and it was truly touching. The song just capped it all off.
