I buy cds. I am still old-fashioned in certain aspects, haven't advanced to downloading music via Itunes, etc. nor am I savvy with Ipods and all that.
It took me forever to switch from cassette to cds. As a matter during a move last year, I tossed out two bosex of cassingles, and on Friday sold a shit-load of cassettes to a pal that still likes cassettes. Got rid of them for a $1.00 each.
I acquired in one day new cds by Brutha, Rapheal Saadiq, Anthony Hamilton and
Musiq Soulchild. I deeply regret the first two. As much as I think Saadiq is talented, his apeing completely the Sixties Motown sound in every aspect was a bitoo much for me. I also recently acquired new cds by Aretha Franklin, Jeff Beck and Plies. My musical tastes are all over the place (sure that seems obvious).
I like cds. If they become obsolete, I guess I will have to learn how to do the Itunes and Ipod thing. I am now investigating Blu-ray also. Tired of every damn thing changing.
I do agree cds have been way over priced. They should have never been over $10.00 per. If they hadn't been over-priced then perhaps the music business would not be in such dire straits.

i still buy CDs. for me, if i get an mp3 of an album first, it's more like i'm sampling the album. if i really like it, i'll get the physical product; if i'm on the fence about it, then i'll stick with the mp3.

i like having a physical package with artwork, liner notes and lyrics. a PDF file just isn't the same.

Exactly.

I still buy vinyl and cassettes too since there's still a bunch of stuff out there that can only be had in that medium.

I detest proprietary stuff like Itunes and Zune but I download from Amazon quite a bit.

Although I seriously don't have the space anymore I still occasionally buy CDs of artists I really like or who I have a large catalog of. I don't mind downloads of singles or b-sides and I may get an album of someone I'm a casual fan of but that's becoming more and more rare. Usually, I go to the used store and buy CDs for my jazz collection. Current stuff is either too high or unavailable.

I still buy Cds also. I have never used Itunes to download anything. I really don't like listening to music on my computer and I really don't care for the MP format or the Ipod. I liek having the booklet so CDs are best for me but I really like analog lps. The only thing there's too much hassle with analog. I listen mostly in my car but I really wish you could load a turntable in your car.

I buy both LPs and CDs.
I gotta have the album in my collection, not just a file on my computer.

I still buy CD's and LPs. I spend time in the US now and then and it is so hard for you folks who live there to find a record store where you can just browse. I'm from the UK and there are still record stores so yeah i often buy CD's.

I wouldn't touch ITunes if my life depended on it. The biggest rip-off ever.

I buy CDs when it's artists I truly like. The last CD I bought was the Japanese edition of Thriller 25

I only buy and keep a CD if it is something I know I'm going to listen to longterm and not want to sell back. It sure made for extra space on my shelf.

Likewise. If I see a CD I know I'm gonna like, I'll buy it and then keep it in my stereo for a long-ass time. lol

That said, it's pretty rare that I'll buy a new CD/LP - I reserve that for a select group of favoured bands/performers. I mostly scrounge through 2nd hand bins looking for finds.

In fact I'd buy more CDs if more of my fvorite artists would release them.

I love CDs, love booklets and stuff... it's more a finacial issue. I can't buy every album I'd like to have.

Same here! biggrin

They are overpriced and now there are more convenient ways to get and play music so I can't say I'm gonna stay a CD buyer for long. I will try to still pick up the important releases of my favourite artists though.

I understand the arguments about "physical product" and "booklets" and such, but they are all about nostalgia and the casual buyer couldn't care less, that's why CDs will soon become some kinda limited editions.

All the time. Occasionally vinyl. iTunes is such low quality it's even noticeable to an audiophile like me. Plus I find it overpriced. I mean what do you actually get when you have a digital download? Nothing in effect.

I prefer to buy special edition cds and dvds. I like the packaging, the artwork, the whole fact of having something of value that I can actually hold in my hand.

And what kind of valuable collection will people be able to sell at record fares of the future if all they have is an SDCard?

Who here buys CDs anymore

sure. I never bought any single MP3 file in my life, and I don't intend to do so for the next 50 years. mp3 is acceptable for a quick "pre-listen", but after that, in case I decide I like what I hear, I will get the physical format.

2 reasons- YouTube isn't stereo (I have a woofer and surround sound with this beast) and download limits. Yes, the internet in Australia sucks and my uber slow speed with 4Gig limit won't allow me to load youtube and imeem all day. wink
