Luckily I survived with both of mine intact. George & Sly... ...Foley is in the neon hoody to the right(bottom pic) Shelia E was also brought onstage for a hot second. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. I'm thinking this might only come from one person. Perhaps your cover has just been blown. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

I was in that pit. That's my wife with the red hair taking pics in the very front. I'll post our piece when it gets published tomorrow, lots of good photos.
It sounded pretty good to me. The whole band doesn't seem to know the song but Sly is singing pretty well. The little poetry explosions are kinda bizarre though. Sly did come out to sing some more of Thank You, this Youtube clip missed it. Great night out though. I've seen better P-Funk shows but this one had some incredible moments. Sly is like quick!

There were a few technical difficulties that killed the groove from the jump.
a) Mike Hampton's amp cut out in the middle of a solo toward the beginning of the set. b) There was an issue with the mics/P.A. The problem with the mics/P.A. seemed to dumbfound the band. This brought George Clinton onstage earlier than normal to try and save the day. IMO, the appearance of Sly (outside of his physical presence), didn't really add much to the show. His "spoken word" segments were odd at best. At this point with P-Funk shows, you have to hope for the best but expect the worst. The "backstage activities" have ended up being more entertaining. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Do we blame the House or the band? They didn't do "Cosmic Slop" on NYE, so there might have been different plans for George's entrance. No "Maggot Brain" either. test

I checked it out from backstage for awhile then I wanted to get a feel for the room. Many times you can't tell what things really sound like being that close. Plus somehow I seem to attract the overly rambunctious (code: inebriated) fans. Really nice venue though. Especially the balcony/lounge section. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

You blame the "House" for the equipment malfunction if it was their gear. A venue (or band) should always have a contingency plan (equipment redundancy). You blame the "Band" for not being professional enough to play through it. I'm waiting to hear Foley's take on what actually happened. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Those are always the best shows. Backstage is cool, but I really like it "on the rail". However, my hearing is shot to hell and I can barely hear on my left. test
