Lupe Fiasco - he's not r&b but he represents the real hip hop right now Common - nope he's not R&B either but in my opinion, he still hasn't received the respect and fame he deserves I think Common is a bonafide star now, especially since he's been acting. His last 2 CDs have been pretty acclaimed and popular as well. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

He didn't take the pressure of this industry though. And I got somebody... She had the FULL package of somebody you'd expect to blow up 1. Can sing her tail off. 2. A looker and sexy. 3. Light-skinned(She can pass the brown paper bag test and it IS a big factor, at least in the states ). I think the nude pix hurt her career though. I read she f**ked for trax. I also read that she and LA Reid were f-buddies, but when it ended, her career did too. Her music was really good. I hate that she gets thrown into the one-hit-wonder category because Breathe was a club smash, just not a pop hit. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Karyn White Solo Remy Shand Van Hunt The only one I don't agree with is Van Hunt. His music it too "out there" for the mainstream's taste. Besides, he's not the best vocalist. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Van Hunt isn't a good singer, but he's like Donny Hathaway compared to Remy Shand. Now there was one motherfucker who couldn't sing. Wonder who he blew to get a record deal.

Well he's highly adept at vocal wankery. I saw him two years ago and every song went on for 10 minutes minimum. Way too much riffing...I felt like shouting out "Just sing the damn song"! It was too much.

Sticking with the "Quincy Jones protege" theme -- Tamia. Even though I bought and enjoyed the albums of several listed here -- Van Hunt, Fante, Shand, etc. -- I never really expected them to be Rhythm and Blues stars. They were destined to take a back seat to the Rap and Beats singers. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Tamia had the whole package, but I think she was a product of bad music and trying to be something she wasn't. I do have to give it to her. Her last album, Between Friends, was very good. Her previous projects had a lot of filler and no substance. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Speaking of Q protoges, I thought Catero would have blown up. His vocals on Q's "From Q With Love" project were perfect. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
