Early 70s Flashback - "Johnny Winter And"

Another under the radar record.
One of the better dual-guitar albums from the tail end of the 60s.

Johnny Winter's first 3 albums...

...were solid Blues records with a few dabs of rocked up R&B

On this 4th album, he was basically added to a group of guys that were known in the 60s as a Pop group called The McCoys (Hang On Sloopy)

Rick Zehringer/Derringer (i'm guessing the name change was for some R&R panache)- guitar
Randy Zehringer (Rick's brother) - drums
Randy Jo Hobbs - bass

A few tunes from the studio album (1970)
(Unfortunately, the recorded quality of the available uploads aren't that great.)

...Prodigal Son

...Rock & Roll, Hoochie Koo (the original version)

...Look Up

...Let The Music Play

...Nothing Left

...Funky Music

...Guess I'll Go Away

...No Time To Live (a Traffic cover)

Great band, and I had the pleasure of seeing them live a couple of times.I also own the album JOHNNY WINTER AND LIVE
Rick Derringer is an incredible guitarist, second only to Jeff Beck.
Johhny Winter is no slouch either. Albino power w/ Johnny and Edgar Winter.

For some reason the "Live" album never worked for me as well as the studio version.
Cool that you got to see them.

Maybe the Rick Derringer solo version of Rock & Roll, Hoochie Koo?

Looking back at a 1975 album cover (Spring Fever)...

...he bore a very startling resemblance to Lindsay Lohan. eek

I figured that was it.
The Derringer version made quite a few 70s Rock compilations.

Still prefer the Johnny Winter And version. guitar
