Mariah Cancels Tour... THIS MORNING I CHECKED A MAJOR MARIAH MEDIA SOURCE AND FOUND THIS NEWS. I CHECKED SOME SOURCES CLOSER TO HER AND LEARNED THAT TOUR IS IN THE HAMPER. NOT ONLY THAT BUT THE “E=MC2″ RE-RELEASE HAS BEEN SCRAPPED. THE OUTCOME OF RECORDING SESSIONS WITH R KELLY, THE DREAM, JERMAINE DUPRE, SWIZZ BEATZ AND KANYE WEST WILL BE CARRIED OVER TO M’S NEXT ALBUM WHICH IS EXPECTED IN LATE 2009 OR EARLY 2010. A PREGNANCY HAS TO BE THE REASON FOR THIS.
SO THERE YOU HAVE IT…NO MARIAH TOUR THIS SUMMER… I KNOW DEF JAM HAS TO BE LIVID ABOUT THIS. THEY’VE SPENT MILLIONS ON THIS ALBUMS PROMO, EVEN ENDING THERE RELATIONSHIP WITH JANET JACKSON TO PUMP FUNDS MARIAH’S WAY. MARIAH HOWEVER WILL BE HELPING COLUMBIA/LEGACY RECORDS MOVE A FEW COPIES OF HER “BALLADS” COLLECTION. IT WON’T BE A TOUR BUT A FEW SHOWS ARE BEING SCHEDULED IN MAJOR CITIES TO PROMOTE THE DISC. I WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED IF SHE DID SOME LATE NIGHT TOO. NONE OF MARIAH’S DEF JAM RECORDS HITS (ANYTHING FROM THE EMANCIPATION OR E=MC2) APPEAR ON THIS COMPILATION. -trueclefmusic.com Oh well...i didnt like that album anyway. First Janet does a half-assed tour with cancelled dates and postponements, and now Mariah cancels her tour. Can't these ladies get their shit together and tour?
In Mariah's case....if she's pregnant then I guess she has a legitimate excuse.

It has nothing to do with pregnancy. The album underperformed, so they scrapped the tour and the rerelease. It's really very simple. I'll believe it when I see it. She has no reason in the world to promote that collection, and she hasn't done a single thing for it before or after its release. [Edited 12/27/08 21:41pm]

yeah, i don't buy pregnancy as a reason to scrap a re-release.

The only reason i could get through the MIMI shows were the fact that she looked amazing, but the music and setlist were all just boring.
Also did anyone think she was going to tour? Why would she now a year after the album came out? And honestly there is no reason to tour unless you are going to something different than what you have been doing already. Mariah needs to clean house, as do a few others. She needs a total overhaul, by the time her next album comes out she will be turning 40, so the day is coming when she will have to drop this whole "lets get whoever is hot right now to guest on my record" this is the main reason all her albums are becoming nothing but filler, and the album cuts are becoming interwoven. Now for the people that think that Mariah "slowing down" or "altering the music" means "boring", but SORRY, right now she is BORING, i mean the "glitter" album was the last one that seemed to have life in it. For the most part the last 12 years of Mariah has been a midtempo fest, and its boring. She won't tour because her voice can't handle it. She has damaged it. So many singers today don't know how to use their voice and have ruined it in the process...Alicia Keys, Mariah...trust me, Christina Aguilera's next...

Mariah has had voice issues for over a decade now and never adjusted her singing to the issue. Her songs need to be re-arranged if she wants to tour and make them sound proper, or else she will have to keep doing overdubs, and pre-recorded vocals like she and others have been doing. Elton John had a similar issue with vocals and had to have surgery back in 1987, that surgery forced elton to have re-arrange all his songs, now he sings in a lower register, as opposed to the higher notes he could hit throughout the 70's. I suspect that Mariah had this issue and never fixed it and is now at a point where nothing can be done for it. And just the economics of her to tour are not wise, the label lost ALOT of $$ on the latest album, I mean just that stupid stunt of lighting the Empire State Building in MIMI colors put this whole project at a loss. She would have needed to exceed her last albums worldwide sales just to break even, and to manys surprise this album did not do well in the European market, which is an area that Mariah has always been strong in. I thought that Japan was her strongest market outside of the USA. I thought she was just so-so in Europe. At any rate, the album didn't do so hot in the first place, and if there was any time for her to go on tour to support the album, it would have been this past summer. Canceling the tour now may be related to her pregnancy, but it may very well be a casualty of the current economic crisis as well, as it doesn't make much sense for a lot of artists to go on tour these days. Only the biggest name artists like Prince, U2 or the Rolling Stones or prolific live bands like Dave Matthews could afford to go on tour at this time.

Only the biggest name artists like Prince, U2 or the Rolling Stones or prolific live bands like Dave Matthews could afford to go on tour at this time. As for touring artists are gonna have to look in the mirror and if they have the control they are gonna have to get a handle on these ticket prices. An upcoming Elton and Billy Joel tour has a majority of tickets at $49.50, which at this point is where artists are gonna have to set alot of tickets, especially if they are doing stadium event sized shows, i understand they still all are going to do their "exclusives" and "gold circle" and those deals and charge a few hundred, and the reason for that is to just target the agencies that for years were able to operate legally, buy ILLEGALLY buying up tickets and selling them to die hards who had to go, dont doubt for a moment that TICKET MASTER was not in on a good portion of these agencies. As for Mariah, a tour would just be dumb right now, unless you are going to do something special, like say a "small enviroment" club type gigs. But if she is gonna go out there and do the same tour all over again at this point, almost a year after the albums release, in this enviroment and her not being a big concert draw for the most part, its not smart. Actually I'm looking forward to the day when her tween fans jump ship, labels lose interest, and Mariah is forced to play small jazz clubs... I just want to see her standing still and belting out HER favorite tracks -- "Underneath The Stars," "The Roof," "Love Story" etc... If she does attempt another over-produced choreographed tour, I'm done. [Edited 12/28/08 11:17am]

link to the meltdowns for hilarity? ok so i know this is just a supposed rumor but now the tabloids are saying mariah has a baby on the way. we all know there has to be a reason WHY she called off the tour b/c she would never disapoint us. MC wouldn't just call off a tour b/c of a rumor and we know that lambs.
Mariah loves us too much to disapoint us so i believe the rumors are true.....theres gotta be a reason behind why mariah called off the tour..... its right in our faces shes pregnant but doesnt want everyone knowing.

Priceless, I'm shocked at you ! did i just mock her age? don't get me wrong though, you know if i heard the heffa is coming anywhere near me, i'll go running & that'll all jump outta the damned window i am just tired of having a #1s tour over and over and over again her excuse is fans get disappointed if they don't hear a classic. well, ok vision of love, make it happen, hero, dreamlover, those are classics she can keep as basics. but the silly dancing sections? that mess should be cut down to one attempt per show and replaced with actual fan favorites (the roof, underneath the stars..) + aren't Someday and Love Takes Time also classics AND #1 songs, mariah?

I dont buy that whole excuse from artists, not just Mariah. If you are an artist YOU have to evolve, theres nothing more that i hate than a laundry list of hits rolled out, if you have new material do it, if you have albums do different songs.
