I wonder how Stevie feels about this song. I mean, they did take the melody from his "Master Blaster".

Oh I'm sure he thought great of it. nod I wondered how George Clinton felt when Kirk Franklin took the music from "One Nation Under a Groove" for "Stomp".

nod Listen to it REAL carefully and you see why Kirk Franklin got the same criticism Twinkie Clark got for including secular sounds in gospel music.

Speaking of, my favorite song of theirs is "Is My Living In Vain?"

You know, that entire TVone series really opened my eyes to all of the artist that were featured. I mean, I always liked them, but now I find myself listening more closely to their material, especailly Debarge. I hope that TVone does more Unsung, episodes. They were excellent.

you know i never heard of this group until i saw the Unsung show but i am intrigued. i am not into gospel at all but they seemed to be kinda rock n' roll for a gospel act. ami i right? is that why they got some flack for their songs by the church?

Cinnie

For the last quarter of this year, I have been listening to an awesome mix from DJ M.O.S. (dj'd at some party for Mariah) and this one is on it.

I love it!

I love this song. I remember the scandal in the church (pre Kirk Franklin) about songs like "You Brought Thr Sunshine" and "Fall Down" by Tramaine Hawkins being too secular (Penticostal Church, what did you expect). I find it so ironic that the church had complaints about crossover gospel songs in the past, yet now we see gospel superstars and mega pastors traveling on private jets. How times have changed.

Did you have to pull out that clip? I remember my church choir singing this when I was a child. I still feel this song and is one of my favorite gospel songs. You went there with this one.

You can thank Reverend Ike for starting this mess. Unfortunately he helped open doors for the Prosperity Gospel Movement.

You are so correct. Now it is out of control. I remember attending Rev. Hezakaih Walker (HOW HE DOIN??) church in New York. It seemed that if you weren't head to toe in Gucci and Prada, you were out of place. This is not the church that my great grandmother (the State Mother) or my grandmother (State Missionary) taught me about.

George was probably happy to make the money. Kirk didn't take the music, he paid for it and credited George, Garry, and Walter as songwriters.
Now Twinkie? lol Yeah, she straight jacked Stevie but he probably didn't care.
I like "You brought The Sunshine" and I remeber it playing on the juke box in my uncle's old night club.

Ah I got you about Kirk & George, that was cool that he did that. Stevie probably didn't mind because he loves modern-day gospel, he recorded with After 7 and Kim Burrell in the past. nod

Aside from that, Twinkle admitted that she used the melody. So, I don't really think it counts as a "jack".
