An absolute gem in a catalog filled with gems, which explains why it's so criminally overlooked "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

EXACTLY what I think. When I first heard that song consciously, I thought: Why is this not more known. IT's simply fantastic. I also adore Creepin from the same album. is it possible, the Fullfillingness album is overlooked? As far as I know it's the only album of his classic period that was not in the RS 500 best albums ever list from 2000?! I think this album may not have all the commercial hits, but great gems. I also love Too Shy To Say and They Won't Go When I Go and others...

The two singles were absolutely huge ("You Haven't Done Nothin'" topped both charts while "Boogie On Reggae Woman" hit #1 R&B and #3 Pop). I love everything on that album. "Please Don't Go" may be his most underrated track. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Love this song! Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

Me too! I just heard this song last summer and I was INSTANTLY HOOKED! I realized that I only have Stevie compilations and Songs in the Key in my collection. So, I know all the hits and some of the lesser hits. However, after seeing him in Grant Park @ the Taste of Chicago, I got on a Stevie kick. After I listened to my collection ad nauseum, I decided to go digging through his vast catalogue of gems and found so many. However, this one shot right to the top of the list. I WEAR IT OUT now! And so we say goodbye, bye bye, bye bye bye. . . perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

Anyway, I often find that with really great artists, some of my favorite tunes by them are lesser known/celebrated by the general fans. For example, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley and Prince (obviously) are my top three artists of all time, and many of my FAVORITE songs by them were never released as singles or barely charted if they were. I think it speaks to the true artistry of people like this because lesser performers tend to only be as good as their "hits." However, I do understand that I do have more discerning tastes than general music fans. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

Love this album and song and what a great way to start it off with "Smile Please". This is indeed the album after his car accident and he was in a coma, it looked pretty bad, I think after the accident his songwriting and song material changed, not negatively meant I have over 1000+ Stevie songs in my collection. My number 1 guy.

I agree 100% with that comment! Fulfillingness First Finale should be subtitled as Stevie's gospel album because if you listen closely to alot of the material on there, it is very meditative and soul-searching. I guess the car accident made him realize that God had something better for him. Check me out and add me on:
