Favorite Wacko Jacko Moment

Michael Jackson loves to be in the limelight. Thru the years he has staged or participated in numerous happenings, events, appearances & stories to bolster up his image as a wacko. From sleeping in the hypothermic chamber to trying to purchase the elephant man's bones to the big Lisa Marie kiss on MTV to his TV plea after the child molestation charges surfaced to moonwalking on Motown's TV special to sweeping wins at the Grammy Awards to attacking Tommy Mottola as a racist.
If you remember MJ for only one thing what will it be?

I gotta go with seeing Thriller the video when it debuted on MTV. It was so much more, so far ahead of any other video at that time. It just raised the bar for videos like no video had at that point. Plus I wasn't expecting anything special since I didn't like the song Thriller.

When his hair caught on fire during a 1984 Pepsi commercial. Everyone thought he was gonna die...and its so funny that back in those days ppl accused him of selling out to commercials and today nearly every rap star is hawking products!

Nothing can top his 1983 performance on that Motown 25th Anniversary special. That was a CLASSIC performance and the next day in school, everybody was talking about it.In many ways,I think that one performance is what made the 'Thriller' album so successful.

1. The performance of "Destiny" with his brothers on Midnight Special in 1979(hosted by WOlfman Jack).

2. The 12"inch Extended European Disco version of "Shake Your Body Down To The Ground". This is classic Jacksons music right here. It blows the regular version on the Destinyalbum out of the water.

3. Off The Wall (album)

4. Michael peforming at a charity show on CBS{forgot the name of this special event.
But it was on CBS.. around Feb of 1980}Mike perfomed "Rock With You"

5. Michael performing "Rock WIth You". This time on Diana Ross CBS-TV special{aired in late 1980} Love how Diana introduced Michael on in front of the audiece "I want to bring a man to the stage who is talented, gifted and YES SEXY...here he is ya'll my BABY...MY BABY...she never says his name. Michael walks to the stage toward Diana. Once he reaches the stage they show him and Diana hugging in slow motion. Classic moment.Michael tries to teach Diana some dance steps during the insturmental part of "Rock With You" but Diana can't keep up with him though. Diana gives a great performance of "Upside Down" on this special as well.

To be continued!!!

6. 1984 Grammy Awards {Mike wins 8 grammies..takes off his Foster Grant sunglasses after he wins his 8th grammy...crowd goes crazy}

7. The 1988 Bad Tour...{Seriously one of the best shows I've ever attended. Mike confirmed why is one of the greatest showmens in live performance...no lip synching, just pure vintage MJ...the finale of "Man In The Mirror"was mesmerizing}.

8. MJ's performance of "You Were There" dedicated to Sammy Davis Jr.{Mike walks out on stage and sings this heartfelt tribute to the man that influenced him so much...Sammy has tears in his eyes as Mike is singing too him. CLASSIC TV MOMENT!!!. This aired in 1990

9. MJs performance of Billie Jean" during Dangerous tour(aired on MTV summer of 1992) {This performance surpasses the performance on Motown 25th in 1983. Listen to the crowd shout..."Go Mikey, Go Mikey..Go Mikey" during the breakdown/climax of Billie Jean as Mike proves ONCE AGAIN how he came to be master showman. Superb performance.

10. Butterflies...A stellar MJ song...Too bad it wasn't released as a single alng with a video.

hate to break it to you, but on the american and european leg of that tour the shows were partly lip synched. he does it during 'bad', 'the way..' and 'man in the mirror'. the songs start with mike's taped voice (clearly same vocals as on the album; background and lead) and near the end mike hooks in for some live ad libs. never really heard the bad tour's 'smooth criminal', so maybe that one's played live, but i suspect he might have lip synched that one too. as for proof, i got it! check that mtv special 'another part of me'. it's a documentary about the bad tour in europe. it's rather obvious on that on.

still, from what i've seen and heard from the bad tour, it must've been a kick ass show!

Prime:
Pepsi Commercial Fire
Billie Jean Motown
Thriller video
Grammy 1984

* I think the Pepsi Commerical was this turning point..

1) he saw the press he got for a story, true story it was huge.. since then he has used the media to plant dumb stories or just fake stories.. so The Pepsi Commercial Fire was real.. BUT ruined him because he has tried to repeat this ever since and everything is just fake

2) he was totally wacked on pain killers.. he admitted this in 1993 he was on pain killers and said about his sculp.. BUT I think it started here.. and if you notice EVERY ODD "Wacky" thing happened AFTER the pepsi commerical.. starting with Webster as his "date" sitting on MJ's lap at a award show.. having ONLY all "yes man" around you, never telling you NO, thats wrong.. or don't do this.. & being wasted on pain killers we have the Disgusting Spiral we have from The Pepsi Commerical all the way to The Baby Dangle ( webster on your lap, face surgeries, skin bleach, elephant bones, oxygen chambers, kid friends, possible rapes, fake marriages, racist record companies, baby dangles)

all started with the pepsi commercial fire.. pain killers and lost of judgement..

what also is a cool performance is his first ever 'live' performance of the song 'dangerous' on the american music awards in 1993. more than a dozen guys on stage including mike, all dressed up as a bunch of gangsters. doing some absolutely breathtaking choreography with an energy that was outrageous. this first performance of the song is much stronger than all the other times he performed it during the 'history' period. man that performance was cool! as he was; cool!

But it was more great seeing the look on Cocker's face when told that the segment of the show he claimed he'd been protesting about, didn't actually occur until about 2 minutes after he'd already been hurled off stage by bodyguards. I mean, have you SEEN Jarvis Cocker? I know MJ isn't exactly Mr. Universe, but he could whip his ass any day. Hooray for their highly promoted Greatest Hits album completely missing the UK album chart this week!

I stand corrected. I was thinking about one of the earlier tours with his brothers. Still, BAD Tour was GOOD!!! Superb vintage MJ.

1979 Big Touring Year For MJ

Back in 1979, did you know that Sister Sledge and Foxy(had big hit called "Get Off") opened up for The Jacksons on the Destiny Tourin early 1979. They came here to Atlanta on May 19,1979.

It was reported that a couple of the Sledge sisters had crushes on a couple of The Jacksons brohers including Sister Sledge lead singer Kathy Sledge's crush on MJ.

Later on in 1979, The Jacksons embarked on the Off The Wall Tour. They came here in Atlanta on November 29th,1979. And funk-turned-disco group Kool And The Gang opened for The Jacksons in most of the major US cities. Kool And The Gang was riding high off of "Ladies Night" hit single and album around this time.

Around December of 1979. Michael Jackson was the feature story of Barbara Walters show called you guess it 20/20. Barbara conducted a good interview of Michael. And he talked candidily about his shyness and how he is like a tiger on stage. He gave Barbara a tour of his Encino, Ca home. Great concert footage from his Off The Wall tour was shown as well. During one segment of the concert. Micahel had reached out to touch the hand of a frantic female fan and she reached and pulled him off his feet and she was pulling him off the stage...MJ was saved in the nick of time by one of the stage bodyguard.

Yes, Davideye they toured twice in 1979, I'm certain. I couldn't make the 1981 Triumph Tour(I really wanted to attend those shows). They came to Atlanta in May or June of 1981(they did a special benefit concert for the families of the Atlanta Missing And Murdered Children tradegy that was had the whole entire country devastated). Then they came back to Atlanta by popular demand on August 8th( I think). A couple of my high school buddies who went to the first show said that Stacy got booed off the stage at the first Atlanta show.
