Wylie Draper as MJ

Believe it or not I just watched that Jackson Movie for the first time last night. Well I saw the last 2 1/2 hours anyway and I thought the actor that Played MJ was brilliant as him. I looked online to learn more about him only to find out he passed away shortly after the film at the age of 24? What the hell? That is so sad. Did any of you think he was good as MJ or did you enjoy the film? For a made for TV film it was decent I thought.

I thought it was decent. I recently learned that David Allen Grier, of "In Living Color" fame, was originally offered the part of Joe Jackson, but turned it down.

No, he doesn't appear nor act strict at all, but I loved Angela Bassett's part as Kate. Draper didn't appear to be sick to me. Overall, I really digged the movie.

nor to me either. he must have been pretty ill during the taping. wow he seemed really strong to me. angela bassett was good too but her wardrobe, good lord. i know that's how they dressed back then but it was so unflattering. also i noticed she walked with a limp in the film. did their mother really have a limp? i never noiced it before. papa joe was getting some action on the road from the groupies too huh?

MJ stated in his book that a childhood disease gave her the limp. As far as groupies, I've been reading and hearing about those rumors for years.

There is one above I just posted.

He played Joe in a Brady Bunch Jacksons type spoof, La Toya Jackson and Joe music video, Keep It In The Closet and a Michael Jackson Neverland Auction. Here is another I just found.

Saw the skit. Still say you can't take him seriously as Joe Jackson.

I'm just so used to see him doing comedy. Maybe if he did drama roles, I can be convinced. I didn't take Jim Carrey seriously until he did some drama roles, but he's still a nut.

Willie died of lukemia about a year or two after the movie. The reason why, David was chosen was due to his role in "Tales in the hood". Remember his role as the abusive father. That's one of the reason's why they considered him for the role of Joe Jackson.
