Your 5 most eagerly awaited releases of 2009 So what is high on everyones agenda in the coming year? Lets get a post of 5 releases, even if they dont have set dates, but lets keep it to albums we KNOW are happening not just hopes, so please even if you are thinking MJ, be real.
for me 1. a-Ha this record is almost complete now, they have been in studios in oslo,uk and nyc doing alot of recording for it. set for a spring 2009 release 2. U2- another thats being completed set for a mid 2009 release, curious to see the route that they will go on this record. 3. No Doubt- im hoping for this one to be a return to rocking and playing and less on beats and loops and akon, give me instruments, this is a band 4. Stefani Vara- Storybook Diaries early 2009. This one is a personal one because its a friend and this has been a long undertaking trying to get this record distributed and out. 5. Elton John- still in recording for mid 2009 release. Not much has been spoken about as of yet, but the recording was said to be nearing completition with Eltons usual lineup of musicians. A few off the top of my head:
Maxwell Whitney Houston Daughtry Kelly Clarkson Duran Duran ? Last release was in 2007, hopefully they release one next year.

Weezer - Their B Sides collection due at some point next year.
No Doubt - Very curious indeed. My Bloody Valentine - Now that Chinese Democracy is out, MBV's mythical lost 3rd album will have to take its place. It's constantly being "worked on," but I doubt it'll ever come out. I've seen the future, and boy it's rough...

I don't see Duran Duran releasing another album that quickly. They are still touring off the current one even though a few shows had to be cancelled recently due to Nick's illness. They need to chill and come up with a more solid record for sure. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

I would really love to see them leave sony, and just go on their own label again "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Pet Shop Boys. Seems like a likely 2009 release since they are hard at work on it.
Whitney Houston-Maybe David Bowie-It's been waay too long for a man who usually released an album a year throughout the seventies and was good for one about every two years later on ("Black Tie, White Noise" up until about "Reality") Prince-You never know Janet-The worse her albums do, the sooner they come out. If Virgin is able and if Janet figures out to put a good hit on there, they might releases a greatest hits that might benefit Janet!

That's good news. Didn't someone from the group leave????? I heard some sort of news in `08 where the group either broke up or went on hiatus or someone left

Oh boy, I don't actually know who is expected to drop in 2009.
I have heard the D'Angelo news but I have long stopped holding my breath so I guess I would take that as a pleasant surprise if he actually released something. Same with news of Dr. Dre's Detox which never stops. And I guess my next project which I originally slated for 2007. Well there is one thing that is coming out in 2009 that is already sorta released separately on vinyl - Madlib Beat Konducta Vol 5 and 6, but the CD with both volumes comes out start of 2009.

Mee too. Although now I think their label encouraged them to shorten their name and drop "The Library", now they're just calling themselves "Mr Hudson". They are getting ready to drop a new album. They just started a new YouTube channel and a new blog.

PET SHOP BOYS / Love Etc. [new single, album yet to be titled]
http://www.petshopboys.co.uk/ New PSB single, album release info
Pet Shop Boys have announced their new album should be out March next year with a single to precede, at this stage Love Etc, co-written with Xenomania. The long-awaited album, now in final mixing stages, contains a number of tracks from the production and writing team behind Girls Aloud, Sugababes and Annie. But it won't all be swizzled-up 60s pop confections. Orchestral arrangements accompany at least two other known tracks, Legacy and Beautiful People, full string and brass sections have been recorded, and legendary ex-Smiths and Electronic guitarist, and longtime PSB-collaborator, Johnny Marr, featured on a number of tracks during the sessions. Behaviour meets Very perhaps? In the meantime fingers crossed for a PSB mix of The Loving Kind, their co-written track for Girls Aloud, while mixes for their Sam Taylor-Wood production I'm In Love With A German Film Star, featuring Neil's backing vocals, are now available on UK iTunes. Check out this awesome Stuck In The 80s Mix by Mark Reeder.
