I think MOST of us bought stuff just for the PRINCE PENNEd TUNES and were pleasantly surprised when we liked certain people/groups.

Definately yes. I looked at his associate's cd's (especially the Family) like new Prince albums. He may not have been singing, but there was no denying Prince's influence and sound.

I've only bought the AA cdz bcuz of Prince.

Pretty much. UK radio never bothered with the associated artists apart from 'The Belle Of St Mark', so never heard what i was getting back then until they were played, i was always pleasantly surprised.

I'll always continue to buy Wendy & Lisa's stuff, regardless.

I didn't know until I read Per Nilsen's book that all of the tunes from the proteges and family groups were written by Prince. I really did believe these pseudynoms were real people. But I was young and just wanted to shake my booty. I equated it all as the MPLS sound, and didn't attribute it to just one artist, minus the tunes that are actually credited to Prince or had him in them.
