Thats the same thing Selena's family did, ALOT of personal details were not brought out because at that point, its really just unfair to do. Its not like you are talking about Kurt Cobain having drug problems, we all knew he did, but digging into her sex life, and what happend or didnt, and the same with Selena would be poor taste. [Edited 12/22/08 14:45pm] No honey, thats not just some insignificant info you skim through,,,,thats marriage(and her ONLY one in her lifetime, if I'm not mistaken) and a person who gave her the start of her career. First of all, how do you know the family is behind it? And I agree the R. Kelly thing is pivotal to her career cuz people never stopped talking about it. One of my best friends Gina died on the plane with her. I wonder if her family is aware of this. RIP Gina [Edited 12/22/08 17:05pm]

Purest spirit ever but boy could she spill the tea. She worked in promotions at Jive here in Dallas and took care of the artists when they came through town. That's when she first met Aliyah during the promotion for the first album and she confirmed that all the R. Kelly stuff was true but the label and the family covered it up. Surprise, surprise. Then she moved to LA to work at Atlantic Records. Matter of fact, this pic was taken in my apartment the night before she drove to LA. She stayed with me that night. Then when her boss left Atlantic for Motown, she asked Gina to come with her to NYC. Gina moved and soon after got the offer to join Blackground Records. They knew Gina from the Jive days and trusted her plus she was just a lovely person. Aliyah seemed to have some really great people around her at all times.

I know alliyah's brother rashad always acknowledged the deaths of others on that plane with his sister during that time so i am pretty sure her parents did as well. What r kelly did with alliyah was despicable during that time but i can understand her parents trying to protect their teenage daughter. Don't laugh at my funk

Well, she's got the Aaliyah look, let's see if she can deliver. Will it open up a can of worms, don't know. In the Selena story, they say that she and her female manager were lovers. Was that true? Don't know even though the movie never gave that indication. [Edited 12/23/08 5:19am]

IMO her parents were complicit in Kelly's abuse because they never pressed charges, helped the label cover it up for the sake of her career, and did not publicly brand Kelly a child molester. If they had said something to protect her then, maybe a lot of other little girls wouldn't have fallen prey to Kelly over the next 15 years. I think they were too concerned with securing stardom than REALLY protecting their child. I mean, if she was my child ain't a studio on Earth he'd be able to hide in to get away from me.

I thought Gina was the only other female on the plane and she wasn't a singer just music executive. The rest of the victims were guys if I remember correctly. She wasn't even supposed to be on the plane though but she begged the stylist to let her go back first so she could get back home to her fiance. [Edited 12/23/08 7:15am]
