I put this mix together very quickly this week of indie/alternative Christmas tracks from the current decade that I had buried in my collection or found online. All are artists I like, some I love and again women rule (with The Raveonettes' Sune Rose Wagner as the token Y chromosome).

After listening a few times, the song that keeps coming back to me the most is "Christmas Is Cancelled" by The Long Blondes. Part of the reason could be that now that they have broken up, I'll cherish every song by them.

I like what Goldfrapp did with "Winter Wonderland" too.

I really like this version of Silver Bells. She sounds so underwhelmed, which fits the song well but so far my favorite has been Christmas is Cancelled and Christmas Reindeer

Nellie has a more upbeat holiday song that she sings with a Rudolph puppet called "Take Me Away". Maybe I should have put that one in the mix instead. I couldn't find it at the time though.

I also had a listen to the first few tracks of And God Re-Created Woman.. And I'm loving that too..

Thanks! The other mix of covers was a set I put together for another project and decided to post it on 8tracks too. And the shoegazing one was just for me. That's the mix I love the most.

I think I'll mail this mix out to people next year since I already sent a mash-up Christmas CD to friends this year (I'm a few years behind the times, I know).
