Well then, since Foxx cannot SING, who in your estimation is a an example of a male who CAN sing? Just curious...

Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, MJ, Al Green, Gerald Levert, James Ingram, Phillip Bailey, George Michael, Johnny Gill, Jeffrey Osborne, Sam Cooke, Donny Hathaway, and Freddie Jackson are some of my all-time favorites. If you want to get more up-to-date, I enjoy Wayne Brady, Trey Songs, Jaheim, John Legend (at times....he tends to oversing), Ne-Yo (not the best singer, but he's ok), Robin Thicke, JC Chazez (formerly of N'Sync), Usher, Eric Benet, Brian McKnight and Raphael Saadiq (he's not a "singer's singer" either, but the boy knows how to write songs that compliment his voice).

I tend to enjoy people that have a pure tone in their voice. Even if they are singing the "shit-hop" r&b, they still have a special tone in their voice.

Good List
It's a real shame how R&B has downgraded
especially the writing has gotten so bad that its virtually unlistenable... Jamie Foxx is just like any other R&B male crooner...
The lyrics are unintelligent, and uninventive and it sounds the same
Since the 90's it's really been the white cats, blue eyed soul brothers that are singing R&B the way it use to be
New cats like Robin Thicke are the ones playing soul music
Shit I just recently heard this track
Everybody Here Wants You by Jeff Buckley (who tragically died in the late 90's)

And I'm thinking why the fuck Black people aren't making music like this anymore?
This shit was R&B! Drum, Bass Guitar and a hammond organ, thats it...
the fuck happened?
AND BEAUTIFUL FUCKIN LYRICS!

Twenty-nine pearls in your kiss, a singing smile,
coffee smell and lilac skin, your flame in me.
Twenty-nine pearls in your kiss, a singing smile,
coffe smell and lilac skin, your flame in me.
I'm only here for this moment.

I know everybody here wants you.
I know everybody here thinks he needs you.
I'll be waiting right here just to show you

How our love will blow it all away.
Such a thing of wonder in this crowd,
I'm a stranger in this town, you're free with me.
And our eyes locked in downcast love, I sit here proud,
Even now you're undressed in your dreams with me.
I'm only here for this moment.

I know everybody here wants you.
I know everybody here thinks he needs you.
I'll be waiting right here just to show you
How our love will blow it all away.

I know the tears we cried have dried on yesterday
The sea of fools has parted for us
There's nothing in our way, my love

Don't you see, don't you see?
Don't you see, don't you see?
You're just the torch to put the flame
to all our guilt and shame,
And I'll rise like an ember in your name.
I know, I know,

I know everybody here wants you.
I know everybody here thinks he needs you.
I'll be waiting right here just to show you
Let me show that love can rise, rise just like
embers.

(While "I know everybody here wants you." Repeats)
Love can taste like the wine of the ages, baby.
And I know they all look so good from a distance,
But I tell you I'm the one.
I know everybody here will thinks he needs you,
thinks he needs you
And I'll be waiting right here just to show you.

Buckley was in the league of cats like Prince (might've became even better than him if he lived)

But Jamie Fuck his ass, he's an embarrassment

I got his last album for Christmas three years ago, listened to it twice or three times then threw it out because it was HORRIBLE. I will NOT be buying this. He's not getting my $10-$15. lol

Well he's never put out a good album, b/c he doesn't know what good music is.

As for his singing, I always thought his voice was decent. Back in the In Living Color days when he sang "This Christmas" he sounded good. He's capable, he's just no Luther...

That's not necessarily true because the man is a classically trained musician. He just has gotten turned to a wanna be r&b star.

I have to agree with Calhoun on this one. I do believe that Jamie can sing and that he is a talented pianist, he's capable, but he's putting out shit that is selling in the "now" rather than putting out quality timeless R&B music. It's just like what one of my relatives said, "Jamie Foxx would be a good singer if he would stop "playing" like he can sing". I thought it was an interesting statement. Ever since he's won the Oscar, he keeps "play" singing as if to say, "shit I know I can sing, I know i'm the shit so I don't have to really try too hard", but he's wrong though. Fans can tell when you put time, effort, energy and heart into your music, and when you just put shit into it.

And yes, i've heard "intuition" and it sucks big time. The sad thing was, I wanted to like it, because I want to support Jamie, but it sucks. I only could stand to listen to 3 songs on the whole damn thing. Thank God I didn't waste my money on it.

And for the record, Avant's album isn't really that much better.

See MissFee's comment above, she's exactly right. I don't think Jamie is knowingly putting out shit, he actually thinks it's worth listening to. He's fooled himself into this, as the rest of the masses have. People have lost touch w/ what good music sounds like, so I don't think he knows anymore. He may appreciate good stuff of the past, but he has no clue how to create something worthy right now, which renders him useless (to me, anyway)...

His classical training has nothing to do w/ his current ear, & he's letting his ear (& love of current garbage) lead him musically. It's pretty pathetic...

Jamie has gotton caught up in being "partyman" on the Hollywood circuit. The cat can actually sing, but u would NEVER know it based on the last 2 B.S. cd's he has put 2gether. I'm embarrassed 4 Jamie (Tracy). Hopefully when he wakes up from the hangover, him and Marcus King will get back 2 the foundation that they started on.

Yesterday, I went to the cd store and this guy came in and bought this crappy cd. He said he had been to 6 different stores (Best Buy, Walmart, Circuit City, etc.) and they were sold out. He did manage to get a copy at the small cd store I was in, but they only had the clean version. He went ahead and purchased it, but wasn't happy about it.

Now, I do live in Dallas (close to Jamie's hometown) and his cds always sell well here.

i was curious about the track with the girl from Floetry but once I heard the chorus freakin you repeatedly, that was enough for me. Another slow song seemed like it might have had a nice melody and then he went on to explain how he was gonna take off his shirt and take off her pants. Blah. I hate those step by step songs on how they're gonna do somebody. They sing about every detail except rolling on a damn condom... if they even bother.

falloff nod you hit the nail right on the head. it turned me off too when i heard that awful chorus. Surely, there must be MORE things to sing about other than how he going to stick his dick in her pussy, and go back and forth until they cum. The subject is a bit redundant.

Yeah, that turned me off also. That is so juvenile when he is a 41 year old man still singing about the same things as 20 year olds.
