When I made my list, it wasn't from a race card perspective. I did include Robin Thicke. I was just thinking of people off the top of my head that I have always thought were just not up to squat for all the big-adoo that is made about them, be it press, rags, critics or fans.

Several that couldn't understand Patti LaBelle being there - well she is a screamer. Her voice when she is singing melody sounds like a country twanger. When she atttempts to high float note they tend to bend sharp.Her runs are non-existant. Hell a barking dog sounds better than her.
Beyonce` Knowles has a pleasant enough melodic voice, but she goes over the top way too much. All the hoopla around her diminishes her real talent.
In some respects Mariah Carey should be on the list too. All of this whisper style singing she does of late - what is that about.
To the person that put Aretha Franklin on that list - let's just say, you need to get her QUEEN OF SOUL - BOXED SET or the brillant THE GOLDEN REIGN OF THE QUEEN OF SOUL - which has previouslu unreleased material from her Atlantic Records days. It doesn't get any better than this.

Here again there a bunch of people on this list that i dont hear anyone calling "great singers", sure they may be popular, but those are too different games. Vanilla Ice was popular but wasnt a "great rapper". For the record i have never heard anyone call Ashanti a good singer?? I mean shes fine but a great singer? can someone show me that article where this is mentioned? Lets stop confusing "popular" with being a "great" anything.
