Girls Aloud turn down US label offers Girls Aloud who have been getting bigger and better with each album and single, have now gotten respect from the UK press which they never had (here in america they kiss everyones ass out the box, not there) they also got an invite to open for Coldplay on some UK dates, and they are about to release their 20th single and if everything goes the way the last 19 went, they will have their 20th straight Top 10 single, surpassing by far other girl groups. If thats not enough their contract for 5 studio albums is up and with offers from everywhere they have signed another 3 album deal for distribution through the UK and some smaller markets.
One market they arent going to be coming to is the USA. As one member put it, "its tempting and we have a few offers to sign, but we arent interested" the girls mainly point out that they already have major success, and a set plan, why ruin that and have to go over to the USA and have to build from the ground up all over again. Personally i would think there sound and singles would be a return to POP in this pop-less market, but their sound would never make it here, they are too POP/Dance in a market that is built on mid-tempo. Girls Aloud release "The loving Kind" January 12th and begin their 5th tour early 09 "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

they have been at it for a decade now, which is a lifetime in this market. the thing is the UK sound doesnt work in america, unless your some boring shit like Leona Lewis, which though is UK, she is proof that America taints other countries. The only reason leona broke through here is because she is boring, bland, lifeless, just put a cardboard standup up there. they sound nothing like PCD for the record, its funny they get compared to the Spice Girls in the UK, but the Spice Girls would done and over after that first album, plus they all hated each other [Edited 12/21/08 15:10pm] "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
