One song you need on there is "Testing Our Love" by Nicole Wray. That sounds like something you bump while rolling through NYC.

You have to have "New York" by U2, and no NYC soundtrack is anything without "Mona Lisa's and Mad Hatters" by Elton John and also "wouldnt have it any other way" also by Elton John. Manhattan Skyline by a-Ha "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

another more serious answer which may not be any more helpful than my last post, and might just be saying the same thing, only with less sarcasm:
you can't ask for advice on an NYC soundtrack. you just have to go and open your ears, take in the sounds, make note of the music you hear on the streets, in the restaurants, bars and clubs, remember what you heard on the radio when you were in the taxi, turn on the clock radio in your hotel room and listen to some of the funky local stations...just the sounds the city makes will give you more than enough soundtrack.

In fact, you'll be barraged with noise.
