Great unknown songs! What songs do you absolutely adore that practically no one knows? There are tons of first-rate songs out there that don't get the proper attention they deserve. Here are a few:
Eurythmics- Take Me to Your Heart- a mournful, incessant cry wrapped in chilling synths. Taken from their stunning debut "In the Garden," the song also features an anguished, sultry delivery from Annie. Eurythmics- I Could Give You (A Mirror)- a head-bopping, hard driving song of fury. It features some classic lines, such as "I could give you a mirror to show you disappointment." Eurythmics- This City Never Sleeps- perhaps their crowning achievement, this song is a masterful work that incorporates the most melancholy feelings with an echoing vocal and subtle train sounds. Annie's lyrics are chilling and almost hushed. Eurythmics- For the Love of Big Brother- perhaps the most paranoid and mournful song on their classic soundtrack to the "1984" album, this ballad features a creeping sense of paranoia that builds under a musical backdrop that sounds as if it were recorded underwater. Blondie- 11:59- a standout track on "Parallel Lines," this would be Blondie's equivalent to "1999" thematically- ("it's 11:59 and I want to stay alive.) It rocks feverishly too! Blondie- Fade Away and Radiate- Tripped out acid rock with a great space theme. This is arguably the best song they ever recorded, with clever lyrics with a creepy musical backdrop. Blondie- Shayla- a gorgeous ballad featuring luscious vocals from Debbie that captures the spirit of a down-trodden woman working in industry. Blondie- Detroit 442- There are plenty more to add. I'll get to it later.

New Order- Vanishing Point- a CLASSIC song from their 1989 album, "Technique," this song is at once catchy and guttural. It grips with its pleading synths and catchy chorus ("My life ain't no holiday, I've been through the point of no return, I've seen what a man can do, I've seen all the hate of a woman too"), this song is practically my favorite of theirs.
New Order- Dreams Never End- the only truly worthy track from the debut "Movement," it sounds like a hybrid of Joy Division and New Order. It is very Cure-esque in its delivery and was probably imitated for songs like "Primary."

I'll start with Prince. These are songs that are fan favorites but not known by the general public. But they should be. Pity they weren't bigger hits. I think all of these could have been top 20 hits had things gone differently.

The track is "Oscar Tango" (available on kazaa, I think) by The Penguin Cafe Orchestra, I don't care if it's New Wage or whatever, it's the most beautiful piece of (instrumental) music that I've ever heard, if you want to know more
+ Ain't That A Shame by The B52s ( on "Bouncing off the Satellites") : a wonderful ballad & the best B52s's song too imo [This message was edited Thu Dec 12 5:56:39 PST 2002 by jnoel]

Definitely two of my favorite lesser known Blondie songs.
