Your brain have to be damaged by crack-cocaine if you put them or Johnny Gill in the same league as young Michael jackson

His voice was very mature. Truly, he was born with a gift. I'm not saying he is "better" than MJ was, but I truly wouldn't count him out. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Oh, Lawd! Little Michael Jackson: The Best Come on, Stevie was actually better on a lot of levels compared to MJ as a child. Stevie actually wrote HITS before he even turned 20 years old. I still won't give MJ the crown as a child singer. He was good though, but not my TOP child singer (but u know I'm not a big fan of children singing either). **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I don't know, I loved Stevie's voice at 15, 16, 17 and 18. The dude could go high and low and mid-range. I love his tenor at the time. And his original performance of "I Don't Know"?
"I don't KNOOOOOW..." Sends me goosebumps especially with the MOTOWN beat. And YES, Stevie did write and produce songs long before he turned 20. Whereas Michael was forced to sing cover songs. I have to say that Shanice was also a great child talent. After her, child stars started sucking. No one should diss Frankie, check his shit out, lol. And hell yeah @ Little Anthony. Or even Little Willie John at 17 singing "All Around the World". Or how about LBC's boy Clarence Burke, Jr. from the Five Stairsteps?

I'd take Usher over Marques anyday. Hell, Marques can't sing as an adult. If u r going down that road, what about Omarion, Quindon, ABC or any of the other 90s groups/singers. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Who? MJ? I wouldn't say he lost soul as he grew up. I think once he got older (especially with Off The Wall), he wanted to break free from his teen image and grow into manhood while making great music. He has continuously sang "soul" music. Every album has at least one GOOD soul song on it. [Edited 12/16/08 14:22pm] **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I’m not a great fan of children singing or bubblegum pop either, but MJ’s larger-than-life vocals made the music serious for everyone, not just preteens.
The same could be said for Wonder and Lymon and others, but I don’t think in the same epic, adult way. Michael sold his voice with the same passion as his performances. Then off stage he probably went back to playing hide and seek. MJ’s voice raised the word precocious to the third power.

Yes, and Casanova was the greatest lover ever. But without hundreds of hours of recorded material, it’s just hearsay.

I love Michael! but come on...Stevie! Question: Which one is better?

Stevie Wonder is my favorite solo artist of all time, but Michael was a better child singer. In many ways, one could argue that little Mike was a better singer than adult Mike. Everything he sang just sounded so effortless, heartfelt, and soulful. He was a one-of-a-kind star. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

That is a true statement. I just got to thinking. If this question was asked differently, we could get different kinds of answers. If the question had been MJ is/was the best child singer of the 70s, I would agree. If you go by decades, you could really come up with a great list. 50s - Frankie Lymon 60s - Stevie 70s - MJ 80s - ???? (Johnnie Gill, maybe) 90s - Shanice (maybe) 00s - ??? **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

And that's because, little MJ did not give a fuck about what people thought about him, not to mention the fact that he had not been "cursed", by "Thriller" yet. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"
