Hard Candy - while her latest is usually among my most played, I think to me Hard Candy will stand the test of time, unlike Confessions it's more varied, the 2 different producers made a great competition, the lyrics improved from the previous one and the tracks have so many different sections, my favourite aspect of the album. The tour really helped me to appreciate my lesser loved tracks as well. And of course "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You" is one of my favourite Madonna songs ever!

I actually debated putting Hard Candy in my top five but thought I might need some more time to really tell. I still play it and despite it's simplicity I just really enjoy it. I can't listen to it without wanting to dance or sing along. I don't think it's a step back for her. It's just 'other'.

Yeah,I'm gonna wait a year or so and do this list again lol Sometimes,I change my mind and I have to move or drop an album from its position. For many years,I truly couldn't decide if 'Erotica' or 'Ray Of Light' was my favorite Madonna album.I went back and forth with it,finally deciding that I like 'Erotica' a little more.

As for 'Hard Candy'...it ranks higher than her first three albums, but it's not Top 5 for me...yet wink who knows how I'll feel in the future?

Yes, I'll have to check back in a year or so and see how I feel about it but right now I still listen to it. I only skip 4 Minutes and occasionally Voices.

I always stop listening to the album after "Dance 2Night".It loses steam after that lol "Devil" is a great song, though, but it feels out of place on this CD.

It'a bit samey all the way through. I mean, 'Erotica', 'Waiting' and 'Did You Do It?' are all basically the same song.

O/T Slightly...have any of you M fans been able to successfully add American Life (album) to your ipod/mp3 players?

My mac keeps rejecting it, assuming it has copy protection...i cant beleive i have to pirate an album i already own cuz i cant add it to my playlist...grrr

I just put the title song on mine (a Sirius Stiletto but I think I had put some songs from AL on my shuffle before that). I don't think there is any difference with the actual CDs, but I had the special edition (with the bullshit packaging...I didn't do that for "Hard Candy"!). Shouldn't make a difference though.

In no particular order:

Like A Prayer - her best album of the 80s, unlike the previous ones, the album tracks are on the level with the singles.

Ray Of Light - the opening 3 songs already puts it among her best, maybe a little too long and I'd cut "Little Star", but great production and amazing vocals.

American Life - to me this one works the best as an album, it has a great flow, the antithesis of the Music album in that regard.

Confessions On A Dance Floor - I used to love this one back in the day more than I do now, it's a bit too repetitive but it still has "Hung Up, "Future Lovers", "Forbidden Love", "Jump", "Push" & "Like It Or Not" that are among my favourites.

Hard Candy - while her latest is usually among my most played, I think to me Hard Candy will stand the test of time, unlike Confessions it's more varied, the 2 different producers made a great competition, the lyrics improved from the previous one and the tracks have so many different sections, my favourite aspect of the album. I'll go with your list in that order.
Good job. Thanx!
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

I think 'Erotica' is alot deeper than it appears on the surface. It's actually a dark album.
