Madonna does some Nasty Funk? - Freedom

I think this is the nastiest funk that Madonna of all people ever recorded..love the background vocals too and that guitar is not playing.
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I think it's horrible, so glad it didn't make onto Bedtime Stories.

The only nasty funk coming out of Madonna is on her diaphragm.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

I like it a lot but I can't I can't imagine it showing up on "Bedtime Stories". It's so raw but I imagine this is a demo and they would glossed it a up a bit. Might have been a nice 12th track. Sort of that got "Survival" type theme/lyrics.

I think it's too monotonous. Not even the worst song of the album ("Inside Of Me") is that bad...

I once read that initially Madonna aimed for this raw sound with Dallas Austin (inspired by his album created for R&B singer Joi), but then she got involved with other collaborators, including Nellee Hooper, who gave her a new approach so in the end all the Dallas Austin songs got reworked: "Don't Stop", "Your Honesty" and "Sanctuary" were remixed for their final versions (the first 2 by Daniel Abraham and the latter by Hooper himself), "Survival" got produced by Hooper and "Secret" had a different engineer or a mixer in the end.

"Freedom" & "Let Down Your Guard" never got to that point so that's why they sound so demo-like.

where do people find these tracks? do they just show up on bootleg
cd's just like prince's outtake albums by labels like sabotage and
such?

or are these just tracks that only pop up on the internet sometime
to disappear again before they appear somewhere else for a while.

i ask because ive never stumbled across a collected source of her
outtakes. i've never even seen a single disc of madonna outtakes,
covering a single era or album.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

This song was featured on the various artist rainforest benefit CD 'Carnival!', released on April 29th, 1997. More info here:

Madonna rarely releases outtakes, some appear on sampler CDs like this one, some appear as B-singles, but most of them just leak online somehow.

in the last years certain people leak outtakes once a while. Apparently the next weeks some new outtakes will follow.
I'd say this year we got ten unreleased songs or demos by Madonna???

I love that mix of "Let Down Your Guard". Remixing it and cleaning it up wouldn't cut it for me.
