Jimmy Jam says he wants to work with Janet again In a new interview with EURweb, producer Jimmy Jam, while speaking about the upcoming reunion album with The Time, said that he would like to work with Janet again:
Jam also spoke about another reunion - one with his good friend Janet Jackson. Jackson, who'd worked with the team of Jam & Lewis for over two decades, but for her 2008 "Discipline" disc, Jackson chose not to have the duo contribute, a choice some fans and industry-ites thought unwise. However, Jam shrugged it off. "We're not perfect," he said of the Jam & Lewis team. "We don't always make the right decisions. We've done records in our time, luckily not many, but we've done some that weren't the best records to do. We went into all the records with good intentions though. You don't go into it saying, 'Ooh, I'm going to make a bad record.' You go in to make a great record. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. We had mad records together for 20 years and she decided to go a different direction and I applaud her for it. I want to see her successful in whatever she does." Jam said that Jackson certainly doesn't need to do anything; that a new project with them would simply be a want, as is with both the pending and possible discs. "I think she's anxious to do some work. And [The Time] is back together because we want to be together, not because we need to be together," he said. "If we collaborate with Janet again, and by the way, I never thought that we wouldn't collaborate again. Just because you work with another producer or decide to go the other way, that that closes the door of the possibility. We want to work with her and I think she wants to work with us and if that all happens, then that's what we're going to do."

YAY!!!!!
Does anyone find it ironic that all the producers that tried to imitate J&L's sound on Discipline did J&L almost more than J&L have done themselves in the past decade? I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Yes, yes, yes
and as the song says, "Take your time, do it right!" That being said, I hope she works with other producers that do something other than just R&B. I've been listening to "Damita Jo" quite a bit this week and damn I like the euro dance songs ("All Nite", "Slo Love", "Put Your Hands On"). Bring out some fun dance pop, Janet! Doesn't sound like there are hard feelings there, which is great. Janet needs to say to JD, three strikes and you're out! No more meddling with my career! Easily her most successful project in the past few years was her role in "Why Did I Get Married?", probably not something JD had much control in and guided all the way through. she needs to get far away from jd's influence,i hope she is pregnant so she can let him babysit while she go back in the studio with jam&lewis. the 3 of them can still make great music just listen to enjoy and take care from 20 y.o

She needs to get back with Flyte Time and do something great again. It would be great for her to expand her sound like she did with Velvet Rope, although that isn't my favorite Janet album, it was her most diverse "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

The last three albums, all bombs commercially, and in varying degrees, influenced by JD. It's clear she needs to get away from him! DJ was the strongest of the three, especially since I can't stop listening to the Euro songs. I think DJ even if you didn't like the entire album had some songs were going to love. Not deep song writing at all. "20 Yo" was nothing and clearly represented DJ's view of what Janet should be doing....he did more promotion than she did! She really only had one song on the album that was totally her and that was "Enjoy". "Discipline" if it would have worked would have gotten me to calm down about JD's influence on her, but it was not only a failure but the fact that it was Jermaine Dupri featuring Janet doesn't help. The only thing we can blame Janet for is the fact that she had no balls to say "I gotta do this myself". If he micro manages the next album, I think it will be time for fans to realize that Janet will never make a "Janet" album if she is still with him. He's gotta to realize he slowly destorying....JD's "Beloved" and Janet is "Sethe".

awww that sounds like janet doesn't want to work with them anymore. I feel bad because if they worked on the 20 Y.O album they did an AWESOME JOB, that is my one of top 4 janet albums.
If i was going to make an album i would work with jimmy and terry. They seem so much fun. I can't believe janet turned her back.

I think Janet's well past her prime now, and not even past-their-prime-as-well Jam & Lewis can help her career at this point. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

Yeah, she's definitely at a crossroads. She's gonna have to decide where to go from here.Fans insist that a reunion with Jam and Lewis would turn things around, but I'm not sure if that's the only big change that she needs to make.

Well, it beats the alternative of JD and the producers he recruits. There are some good moments on "Discipline" and I admit I really liked it when I first heard it, but it's pretty safe and light. It's also not Janet at all. Maybe Jim and Terry need to focus, too. Some with some hot funk and not the lame stuff of "20 YO". She should really do now what she should have done after "Damita Jo" and certainly after "20 YO'....don't rush into another ultimately disappointing album. The public and your fans will be there if you come back strong. And even if they are not, it doesn't matter as long as you can make something you feel proud of...can't imagine with the last two she was ("Damita Jo" could have been a better albums with some tweaks and was likely a labor of love to make some many different types of music).

Well, it beats the alternative of JD and the producers he recruits. Oh, absolutely. I'm just not sure if its going to be as promising as we once hoped/thought. I think their last few collabos were okay, not great. But I'll definitely be listening for it. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off
