the 2004 performance was mutually beneficial.
it helped Prince capitalize on Purple Rain nostalgia (20th anniversary), and IIRC, was a prelude to his induction into the RRHOF and helped the kickoff of Musicology. It helped the latest of his many "comebacks" over the prior ten years gain footing and put him back into the public conversation. Beyonce wanted and wants desperately to be taken seriously as an artist. How better to do that than share the stage with a legend who was a superstar in his own right? So, both sides are right. It was largely a business move for all involved. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Why do people want to use Prince as a scapegoat to bringing out their "sexy" side.

Didn't someone on this website wrote up a blog about that name being stolen from a porn star?

For anyone who wants to go back in time, here's what we were saying about the Prince/Beyonce Grammy performance in February 2004: http://prince.org/msg/5001/79761?&pg=1 I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Well alright, Miss Jackie! What you say is true though. If one understands the term "U.BETTA.WORK" there is no way in the Sam Hell in 2008-2009 a somebody can actually use a stage name/ alter ego like Sasha Fierce

Beyonce don't need Prince to be fierce! He needs her to be sexy at 50!! NO OFFENSE to my sexy purple one but come on...that snippet makes it seems like Prince was doing Beyonce a favor when it was clearly the other way around. Else why would he still be performing PRain and Baby Ima Star aside from all his other great songs. Gettin hotel loungy up in this byatch! Can I have some of what you're smokin? She says she "just trances out". Is that her excuse for being a stagehog and trying to sing over Prince at the Grammies? "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Prince should have brought out a wider vocabulary in Beyonce. Her command of the English language is so limited, she sounds like an 8 year old when she speaks.
