SNL's Jimmy Fallon is taking over for Conan O'Brien when Conan takes over for Jay Leno when Jay moves to his new earlier show.

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Cult hip-hop band the Roots will serve as the house band on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon," which premieres March 2 on NBC. Fallon, who is filling the slot to be vacated by Conan O'Brien, made the announcement Monday on the show's newly launched Web site.
Fallon is taking over "Late Night" for Conan O'Brien, who is in turn taking over "The Tonight Show" from Jay Leno.

The Roots will get in a handful of live dates before taping begins on the show, including December 30 in Atlantic City, N.J., and a four-date run in Japan in mid-January.

I would expect Prince to perform a few times.

I would expect Jimmy Fallon's stint to be short-lived.

Then again, I was flipping channels the other night and was astounded to learn that Carson Daly is still on the air.

Can Jimmy keep up with the funky Roots? I would go to the show to see them...not Jimmy.

We're gonna be hearing about 2 minutes of music throughout the whole show.

Jimmy Fallon had a following at once and I wish him well. I will tune in just to see the Roots! Now that is hot. They are coming to Japan soon too. Yes!

GAWD, this gig must pay an assload of $ to sew them up like that. I'm happy for them in that sense, but it's kind of a "waste" of a talented group. Then again, I never watch late night tv Ehh, good for them, make that cash...
