Rick James.

Never got around to see Slick Rick. Almost had a chance after he did his prison stint and started touring old school. He did a show with Teena. I begged people I knew to go with me... nobody wanted to see "old school".

Dang! I should have gone by myself. Within 1 year, Rick was gone.

pray

nod you should have.

I've been to tons of shows by myself, only to end up running into someone I know anyways. My first solo concert was Lutha'"in the round". It seem that night, it was me, the drink I sneaked in, Lutha' & Company and some of the finest screaming ladies of Dallas...It was so much mary jane in the air I thought I was on the first row of a Parliafunkadelicment Thang.

Yeah, that is crazy to think of people smoking weed at a Luther show. But I did get a chance to see Rick in 2002 before he died, and he came with the Bar-Kays, the Dazz Band, Regina Bell, Glenn Lewis, and Atlantic Starr; and I thought that Rick put on a great show, I mean he wasn't on top of his game like he would've been in the '80s, but he put on a great show, and there was a thick cloud of smoke in the air to make things more exciting... lol.

My parents saw the Rat Pack & Sammy Davis jr. each a few times... My Mom was into Sammy Davis jr. the way I'm into Prince. She used to drag my Dad to shows. Their accounts sounded great! biggrin

The SECOND someone invents time travel I'll be in line for the machine to go see Sammy Davis Jr perform.

I've been watching old Rat Pack movies lately and I'm developing a bit of a crush on the guy. redface

Luther is the ONE person I STILL kick myself that I never saw live, especially considering how many times he's come to Dallas. sigh It's because of him that I go to see ANY old school or legendary act regardless of whether I'm a big fan or not.
