Beyonce Offers to (OVER)Sing for Barack on Inauguration Day

NEW YORK – Attention, Mr. president-elect: Come Inauguration Day, Beyonce is at your service.

"I'm there. I can't wait. I feel like all of us, we're ready to do whatever we have to do. Whatever they want — if they need me to volunteer, they need me to sing, I'm there, and I'm ready," a giddy Beyonce said in an interview the day after Barack Obama made history in becoming the nation's first elected black president.

The singer couldn't stop beaming after Obama's win over Republican John McCain on Tuesday. In fact, she was so inspired, she wore a blue suit and tie in honor of Obama — with stiletto heels that were red, white and blue.

"I've never been so patriotic!" she laughed. "I'm just beyond excited."

Beyonce was supposed to be in Japan on Election Night to promote her upcoming album, "I Am ... Sasha Fierce," but decided to postpone it at the last minute.

"I said, 'What am I doing? I'm completely making a bad decision. I have to go home, I'm gonna kill myself if I'm not home in America,'" she said. "I knew I needed to be here."

After going with hubby Jay-Z, Diddy, Mary J. Blige and others to states like Pennsylvania, Florida, and Ohio just before the election, she watched the returns Tuesday night with family and friends in her home. She was not only inspired by Obama, but McCain's concession as well: "McCain's speech was so classy."

The 27-year-old said the win was particularly important for the inspiration it gave to African-Americans.

"My nephew, who is 4, when we say, 'You can do whatever, you can be whatever,' it's not cliche. You have no doubt that it's not true," she said.

The election even brought Beyonce to tears, though she says it was the good kind: "I fell asleep crying and smiling at the same time," she laughed. I woke up with mascara running and a smile on my face!"

I think this is the first time she's actually expressed a point of view on anything.

Normally she keeps her mouth shut and doesn't have an opinion (like a good little puppet.)

Either way, fuck Beyonce. She's so overplayed. I've never had a desire to buy one of her records. Solange on the otherhand...

Good idea(even though its redundant).

But also, bring somebody young who could sing,,,REALLY sing, not fluff thier asses out.

The whole theme of inauguration day is the new change, no sense of draggin' out the old without some of the young voices, some of them need their chances too, and now its the best time.

We've finally got the goodwill of the world back. We cannot squander that by putting that talentless skank on the national stage.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

Exactly. Beyonce is sweet. Beyonce is nice. Beyonce is funny. But she isn't talented enough to represent America at this cross-roads and I hope our new President says, "Thanks but no thanks." We need someone like the above posters who said, who have been around in the days when NO ONE thought Barack Obama, or anyone like him would EVER be elected. While Barack Obama represents a lot to the African American community at large, he also represents something to Americans in general - race aside - in that he is a President people actually respect, admire, and don't just "wanna have a beer with." Barack Obama represents out with the old and in with the new. Beyonce is so far off his level. In fact, I doubt ANY entertainer minus Stevie Wonder is on Obama's level - as far as inspiration, impact, respect, etc. Beyonce is just some well-marketed, slutty dressing, over-exposed, stuck up.....nevermind. If it HAD to be a performer from our generation it should be..Lenny Kravitz. He is the only person singing about change AND HAS BEEN forever. What does Beyonce sing about? lap dances? grinding? No thanks. Plus, Lenny Kravitz is bi-racial, so on some level, you know this whole thing must have touched him on a personal level to. (And Lenny is actually PLAYS something...so we don't even need to make that argument against Beyonce. That one was a given.)

My final thoughts on this are: Beyonce's performance won't happen. If anything, she will be in the audience with Oprah crying on her shoulder.

President Obama...please invite Stevie Wonder to perform. It is only fitting.
(I'd suggest Michael or Prince but them being eccentric and flakey just isn't something I'd want our new President to have to bother with. Period.)

She probably shouldn't perform only because I can't really think of an appropriate song....Listen, maybe? It'll look a little silly if she sings If I Were A Boy when Obama...is...one...lol

Otherwise, there's nothing wrong with her being excited...let her be.

They had someone sing the Star Spangled Banner in Grant Park. I can't remember who...all I know is that a lot of us were eye-rollin'. It was bad. Three of us (strangers all) turned to each other and said at the same time, "Jennifer Hudson should be up there."

hmmm Which song should Beyonce perform??? Lemme think. . . How about Put a Ring On It???? I mean, it's all about commitment and could be juxtaposed to America's willingness to commit to this HUGE change in American politics and society. thumbs up! That's my vote: Put a Ring On It. nod
