I wanted to see if anyone here was watching this. I just happened to turn it on..

Did you all see Christina Aguilera?! She sang from Porgy and Bess.. "I Love You Porgy"! I thought she was wonderful! Oh my goodness.

I think she should forget the pop and go into jazz!

Oh.. and I saw Dave Grohl, John Mayer, and Bebe King.

I loved them all.

Christina though was just eek !

I think this is where she should be .. not a pop singer.. but more a jazz singer..

I agree she's actually a great jazz singer. Did you see her perform with Herbie Hancock a few years ago on the Grammy's? They won for that song.

It was on tonight.

No.. I'll have to look for this.

I think Christina could do so much if she left pop music. I thought she was so wonderful.. I was blown away!

Possibly the worst list ever in their history. Whats the fascination with Adele? Also im sure Robert Plant feels good that he got more nominations this year for his album with Alison Krauss, then his whole career with Led Zeppelin. The only thing that would be funny would be RadioHead winning album of the year, after all their anti-label and giving the album away mostly free first, here they are. Im thinking they might win it, because they have lost twice before in that category and it might be a payback for those losses. But all in all so much stuff overlooked, so much stuff over compensated, horrible year.

No nominations for R.E.M. only proves what a joke the Grammies have become.

Pay up or be left out.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

Exactly, one of the best albums of the year, not even looked at by the industry.

I love Adele (especally compared to the heavily overrated Whinehouse and horrid Duffy). The Grammys are historically insane but that Plant Krauss album was a bit hit commercially and critically. Almost bought it. Hey, what can you do when it has been such a lousy year in music? Overall, some shocking nods but I think Adele and that album rock.

Donna Summer made an album with different musical styles and said tongue in cheek that she wanted to be nominated for grammys in all various catogeries....she didn't even get a nod for best dance recording...fucked up! It wasn't that bad of an album but it just didn't do it commercially in order to get the notice of the people making the final decisions.

Even Adele would tell you she more over rated than Amy, Amy has fu$k up her life for sure but she is the most talented female out their at the moment, and Duffy is a studio produced artist that can't really sing, Estelle got lucky (kanye) she good and better than Duffy and i would say more rounded than Adele but Adele voice is pretty good and shes only 19-20 so will get better, apart from Amy who has / had (don't known what she will sound like if she ever comes out of rehab) the full package..until drugs fu*k up her voice.
Sorry to say it but Leona Lewis is the best voice out there only the great MC and Christina can come close in singing range of course Whitney but we all know what happen to her (drugs)...she still very young in the industry so i'm not sure if she can write music like MC and Christina..Adele or Amy.

I did not see Christina with Herbie though. I guess the performance was featured in the clip. I came to the show really late--just David Grohl was finishing up and.. must have missed the clips.

I'm going to look it up right now! lol

Here's is one of them on Ellen:

Oh my goodness. Christina should do a jazz album! I think it would go number one! She looks so pretty, too! She can look so pretty and then also look a mess! LOL (We all have our good and bad days though.) But that voice!...amazing... She just tells the story of the song..

I am watching the Herbie/Christina grammy performance now!
I have to say.. wow.. and Herbie, too, on the piano!

I really like Amy but I sometimes think that the fascination with her is pumped up by her craziness. As far as Adele, she didn't even get an album of the year nom (and Ne-Yo did). I don't think anyone would take any of her nods away from her. "Chasing Pavements" is a beautiful song, maybe even sadly a one hit wonder and it wasn't even a hit. I would give Adele her due. I haven't exactly seen any entertainment reports, though, because those are the ones that tend to create what is overrated.

Its not that adele isnt good, its just the grammys seem to have tunnel vision, they latch on to one artist and nominate them in every possible category they can, they do this all the time and never learn from it. this is why they tend to overlook so many, its because their focus is very small. As for Krauss/Plant, its a great record and should be nominated, im just saying how it seems humourous that plant got more on this one album then his whole Zep career. Also unknown too many Alison Krauss has now become the most nominated artist in grammy history overall.

I would agree with that has a rule but considering Adele didn't get an album nod (not in pop, either, I believe). I wonder consider that a sign of laziness, for the most part.

Allison Krauss being the most Grammy nominated artist in history....Grammys, we have a problem!

Actually not really in that respect, i would have more issues if it turned out to be someone that hasnt done good work. Alison just does what she does and always has, she is like the female Ryan Adams in a way, she is under the radar but has taken more risks that the artists who think they have taken "risks"

You know as much as I loved Christina's performance.. yeah I have to agree with you in a way.

What is it called when a singer sings like that? Celine Dion sings that this, too. Is not like you know Billie Holiday with this pure voice? And last night, I was watching A Gentleman Prefers Blondes with Marilyn Monroe. I have seen old movies like Love Me or Leave Me with Doris Day or White Christmas with Rosemary Clooney. And those singers had more of a purity in their voices. Their voices weren't so back in their throats.

But even so.. what I am most impressed with Christina is her ability to interpret a song more than her voice itself--not to say her voice is bad because for me.. her voice is incredible. She rarely hits a bad note even while dancing. However, the way she sings ballads .. oh my goodness. And that performance she did with Herbie Hancock. It was really incredible. I wonder if she improvised during some of that performance, following Herbie's lead.

Now I will say, even though she does have that quality you describe, I like that Christina varies the dynamic of her voice. In other words, she does not sing loud all the time.

It just seems to me Christina is a very under-rated artist? I just do not think she is a popular as she could be. I think there IS something the public perceives about her as annoying?

I still love the way Christina interprets a song though, but there is something with the quality of her voice..
