A couple more:
The most pleasant surprise for me this year was Moby's album "Last Night". I haven't enjoyed a Moby album this much in YEARS, and I think just putting together a fun disc of party music was exactly what he needed to do. I don't know if I'd call this a "fave" but I certainly wasn't expecting to respond favorably to a Moby album this year. The latest of the greatest for me this year was the new Marianne Faithfull album "Easy Come, Easy Go", which doesn't even come out in the US until sometime next year. I managed to snag a copy a couple of weeks ago and it's amazing. The songs she chose to cover are fantastic, her collaborators on each song are perfect, and her voice is perfectly suited to every last track. I'm having a great time listening to this album. | |

I've only bought 3 CDs this year-- new releases by Mariah Carey, E=MC2; Madonna's Hard Candy and Kanye West's 808s and Heartbreak. Of the 3, Kanye West's is the only one I have been listening to the WHOLE album with no skipping! I love it!!! "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."
